Rep. Paul Gosar Spotlights President’s Gun Hypocrisy

Urges Committee Chairman to Hold Hearing On Resolution of No Confidence in Attorney General Holder for his Role in Fast and Furious

WASHINGTON, D.C. -U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S (AZ-04) sent a letter to the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee requesting a hearing on his Resolution of No Confidence in Attorney General Eric Holder (H. Res 35).  As the Obama Administration pushes Congress to pass legislation which would create additional barriers for Americans to lawfully exercise their Second Amendment rights, Rep. Gosar believes now is the time for a committee hearing to take up his Resolution of No Confidence in Attorney General Holder.  The Resolution stems from Holder’s actions and inactions pertaining to the misguided and unlawful Operation Fast and Furious.  Rep. Gosar issued the following statement:

“As the Obamas step up their unconstitutional gun grabbing efforts, it is imperative we not forget the role the U.S. Department of Justice, through its Attorney General, had in facilitating the trafficking of thousands of firearms to violent Mexican cartels through the use of straw purchasers.  The government should not engage in illegal activities that would send anyone else to jail for a long time.  Passing my Resolution of No Confidence in Attorney General Holder is an important step acknowledging that Congress will not stand by as bureaucrats abuse public trust and put lives at risk with no consequence.”

“The hypocrisy of President Obama’s latest attempts to restrict the lawful and constitutionally protected rights of Americans to own firearms while protecting Attorney General Holder is astounding.  This Administration has specifically touted the need for tougher laws to prevent straw purchases and stricter penalties for the type of straw purchases used in Fast and Furious while allowing those who ran the operation to evade consequences.”
