Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) made the following statement after the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the grant recipients from the House Choice Voucher Program, that was included in the CARES Act.
"I am pleased to see money I voted for in the CARES Act coming back to Rural Arizona, as our communities have been hit hard by the economic shutdown. While I want to see restrictions be lifted and people to be allowed to go about their daily lives, this money is necessary to help our local housing authorities cope with increased demand caused by the shutdown. I thank Secretary Carson for his hard work and listening to the needs of rural communities in Arizona," said Gosar. Grant recipients in our district include: Mohave County Housing Authority: $96,721 Pinal County Housing Authority: $77,107 Yuma County Housing Authority: $77,156 Yuma City Housing Authority: $253,386 Background These are Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program fund assignments for CARES Act. This funding action provides Administrative Fee budget authority to PHAs in accordance with Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), enacted on March 27, 2020 to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), including the Mainstream Vouchers. At the time of this assignment, $472.2 million was available to fund CARES Act Administrative fee awards. |
