WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after President Obama signed into law his sponsored legislation, H.R. 1216, which will designate the Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center in Prescott, Arizona, as the “Dr. Cameron McKinley Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Center”:

“As his widow Anne McKinley said, ‘Today is a very special day in honor of a very special man.’

"I am pleased to see the President recognize the distinguished life and career of Dr. Cam McKinley by signing my legislation into law. Naming the Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center located at 3180 Stillwater Drive, in Prescott, Arizona, after Dr. McKinley will forever be a fitting testament to his honorable service in the Army as well as his commitment and dedication in helping his fellow veterans through his groundbreaking work treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Today, the Prescott community has much to be proud of and should celebrate the remarkable life of an American hero.”

The House of Representatives unanimously passed H.R. 1216 on June 17, 2014 followed by the Senate on July 9, 2014.
