Statement from Congressman Gosar on Resignation of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Calls Her “An Arizona Miracle”

PHOENIX, AZ –U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-01) released the following statement today on the resignation of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

Today Gabby Giffords, who has proudly served Southern Arizona’s 8th District for five years, submitted her letter of resignation from the House of Representatives. I would like to personally thank her for all that she has done for the people of Arizona.

I know that her presence and her smile will be deeply missed from the halls of the US Capitol to her town halls in Arizona.   Whether it was actively fighting for veterans on the House Armed Service Committee, or listening to her constituents at events throughout her district, Gabby’s service to the House of Representatives, and to the people of Arizona, was the result of her resilient spirit and an unwavering loyalty to her state and her nation.

The work ethic and determination that characterized Gabby’s professionalism in representing the people of Arizona’s 8th district are the same personality traits that allowed for her to turn a tragic incident into an example of hope. As, I’ve said before Congresswoman Giffords is an Arizona miracle.  I wish my colleague and friend the best in her recovery, and I know that across Arizona we look forward to her return to politics.
