Rep. Gosar Visits the Arizona-Mexico Border

Yuma Sector is a Model for the Nation

YUMA, ARIZONA –– U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04), joined by Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne, received a border briefing at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Arizona to better understand the new technology available for border security and safety. The Yuma border sector has shown dramatic success in stopping illegal immigration starting in 2005. The Yuma sector utilizes state of the art radar and thermal imaging and uses close coordination among the border patrol, the Marines, and the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.  Further Yuma has shown a determination to prosecute and jail illegal immigrants.

“Immigration reform starts with border security. Yuma has proven we can control the border. Before we talk about mass amnesty and other notions, we need to mirror and duplicate what Yuma has done to secure the border. We have the technology. We have the dedicated professionals. All we need is the will to get this done."

“Any talks of immigration reform starts with border security and enforcement. Only when this occurs should we begin to discuss reforming other aspects of our nation’s immigration system.”

Rep. Gosar continued, “Immigrants are an asset to America, not a liability. But we want legal immigration, not illegal immigration. We want a secure border and an orderly process too.”
