Congressman Gosar Responds to Obama’s Visit to Phoenix, Arizona

PHOENIX, AZ –U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-01) released the following statement today about President Obama’s visit to Phoenix.

“Last night, I remained in Arizona to be with real Americans as I watched the President give his State of the Union address from Washington.  After spending much of the day speaking with real job creators, small business owners and constituents who are feeling the effects of President Obama’s failed policies, I hoped he would provide some solutions that would turn our country around.  The President offered no such solutions and instead offered more pabulum, more empty rhetoric and more spending.  This President is slowly choking our economy and attacking our middle class business men and women—the very people who pay the bulk of taxes that run our government.

Today, Obama took his campaign show on the road selling his empty promises and divisive rhetoric in key states needed for his re-election. One of his stops was here in Phoenix, Arizona.

It is unfathomable that the President, who  just single-handedly killed the Keystone Pipeline, which would have created thousands of jobs and increased our nation’s energy independence, is out touting big government and big spending policies as the solution to our economic challenges.  The President fails to acknowledge the trillions in debt he caused.

Here in Arizona, where EPA regulations are threatening jobs throughout our state, the Administration has taken action to limit safe uranium mining efforts and natural resource job creation. The President also continues to reject an opportunity to create an estimated 3,700 high-wage jobs by refusing to ask the Senate to pass H.R. 1904, the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange Act.

One of the biggest problems we face as a nation is that our President continually ignores the simple realities that the government is not the answer. In many cases it is the problem.  I implore the President to get out of the way of the free market, stop growing the size and scope of Washington D.C. and the number of bureaucrats who make business development harder and recognize that the true path to prosperity lies with the people. It is hardworking Americans who invest their time, energy and money into creating a strong economy that are the solution.

Our nation’s leaders should encourage Americans to aspire to do better for themselves, and not to vilify those who have and promote class warfare.  The American dream lives on Mr. President, in spite of you, not because of you.
