Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) sent a letter to President Obama calling on immediate action from the Administration in regards to the immigration crisis along the southern U.S. border. Additionally, a letter was also sent to the President from the House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY), House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) as well as four other Appropriation Subcommittee Chairmen requesting immediate action be taken to enforce U.S. immigration laws: “I am encouraged to see Speaker Boehner, Chairman Rogers, Chairman McCaul and other Republican leadership figures join my effort to prevent the recent epidemic flow of illegal aliens from entering our southern border. I agree with my colleagues that the actions of the Obama Administration have encouraged immigrants from countries throughout Central America, especially young children, to risk their lives in order to illegally enter the United States. “We are witnessing the tragic consequences of what occurs when the Obama Administration chooses not to enforce our laws. Last week I called for the Administration to immediately terminate their flawed alien smuggling policy, to respond to pointed questions about Homeland Security’s actions, to secure the border and to stop giving amnesty to illegal aliens. “To date, the Administration has refused—on multiple occasions—to cite the statutory authority for implementing the new transfer policy, refused to ‘discuss policy’ on any of their conference calls on this crisis with congressional staff and missed the June 19 deadline for responding to my questions. This Administration becomes more lawless by the day and I demand compliance with the rule of law in addition to responses to my questions.” The press release and letter from Speaker of the House John Boehner can be found HERE.
