Rep. Paul Gosar Introduces The Arizona Land Sovereignty Act

Hearing held on legislation to restrain presidential power

U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S (AZ-04) introduced the Arizona Land Sovereignty Act (H.R.1495), preventing any president from unilaterally designating national monuments without input from the public. On Tuesday, April 16th, the Subcommittee on Public Lands and Environmental Regulation held a legislative hearing on Rep. Gosar’s bill. Arizona Reps. Franks, Salmon, and Schweikert signed on as original co-sponsors.

Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) issued the following statement: “While it is extremely important to protect our country’s natural and historical treasures, no president should have the power to dictate how those lands are managed.  Rural Arizona communities, like the ones in my district, depend on access to public lands for their livelihoods and deserve to be a part of this decision-making process. I will continue to fight for their voices to be heard and to restrain executive authority.”
