Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement in anticipation of the Christmas holiday:

“The Christmas season offers us all a chance to not only celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, but also to gather with family and friends and cherish the ones we love most. Unfortunately, many of our brave men and women serving in the military will be celebrating away from their loved ones while they protect our freedoms abroad. This Christmas, I will be keeping them in my heart and my prayers, including one Arizona soldier in particular.

“Army Specialist Wyatt J. Martin from Mesa, Arizona was killed in action on Friday, December 12, 2014, in Parwan Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Specialist Martin was the ideal soldier who exemplified the best of what Arizona has to offer. This Christmas, I will be remembering Wyatt Martin, his family and the heroic sacrifice he made so that we may live in the land of the free. I am eternally grateful for his service and the service of all of our men and women in uniform. Without their sacrifices, we would not have the liberties and freedoms we enjoy today. I ask that all Arizonans join with me in keeping Wyatt Martin and his family in our sincerest thoughts and prayers.”
