Rep. Gosar Votes to Fund Border Security Today, U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) voted in favor of the Border Safety and Security Act, legislation that funds the critical border security functions of the Department of Homeland Security. The bill passed by a vote of 249 to 175. After the vote, Rep. Gosar issued the following statement: "Today, I voted for the Border Safety and Security Act because border security shouldn't be left to the whims of those who are trying to score political points during the current shutdown." "Border security is among the highest priorities for those of us who represent districts that see and feel the violence that comes from an already porous and antiquated system." "Enough is enough. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama need to put the safety of those living in our border states above political point-scoring by enacting the House passed Border Safety and Security Act. Like many of the 15 bills the House passed over the last eight days to fund critical functions of the government, this is a matter of life and death." |
