Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after the passing of Conservative icon and founder of Eagle Forum Phyllis Schlafly:

“There was no greater defender of the American family than Phyllis Schlafly. She stands alone as America’s Iron Lady of Conservatism for her seven decades of grassroots advocacy. I consider myself incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to know Phyllis and draw strength from her courage and devotion to God and our country. Phyllis has left us with an immortal legacy of service, charity and love that will never be forgotten. I join the thousands of lives that Phyllis touched in offering my prayers and condolences to the Schlafly family.”

Courtesy of Eagle Forum: “Phyllis Schlafly spent an astounding 70 years in public service of her fellow Americans. Her focus from her earliest days until her final ones was protecting the family, which she understood as the building block of life. She recognized America as the greatest political embodiment of those values. From military superiority and defense to immigration and trade; from unborn life to the nuclear family and parenthood, Phyllis Schlafly was a courageous and articulate voice for common sense and traditional values. She authored 27 books and thousands of articles. She spoke tens of thousands of times across the United States.”
