Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement in regards to yesterday’s terrorist shooting in Ottawa, Canada:

“Yesterday reminded us once again that terrorism can strike anywhere in the world. Sadly, the attack in Ottawa claimed the life of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo who was shot while guarding one of the most important landmarks in all of Canada. My heart and prayers go out to him, his family and the entire Canadian people.

“However, we must never forget that there are so many heroes who walk among us fighting for a peaceful future free of violent extremism. Kevin Vickers, the Sergeant at Arms of the Canadian Parliament, acted heroically to stop the gunman who attacked the Canadian Capital. His courageous actions undoubtedly saved countless lives and I am extremely proud to call Mr. Vickers and the Canadian people our closest neighbor and ally. It is in these challenging moments that the United States stands strongest beside our allies and all peaceful nations of the world against terrorism.”
