Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after President Obama introduced his budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2016 on Monday morning: “The president’s budget is a liberal pipedream that imposes more than $2 trillion dollars in taxes but somehow never balances. President Obama continues to ignore reality and our $18 trillion debt in order to grow government, fund his pet projects and waste even more taxpayer money. Rather than making the tough choices like Arizona families do around the dinner table, his plan is another unrealistic budget proposal that does nothing to solve America’s real economic challenges. “Shockingly, the president’s budget will add almost $9 trillion to our federal debt and leave our country more than $26 trillion in debt by the year 2025. He plans to spend nearly $75 billion more next year, a figure that doesn’t even include the $220 billion automatic increase for entitlement spending. The White House arborist must have planted a bunch of money trees this year, because I have no idea where the funds the president is planning to spend are going to come from. “Charting a realistic fiscal plan to navigate these challenging economic times should be a top priority for the president and he should have treated our fiscal crisis as an emergency. Unfortunately, the president’s budget proposal is not serious and is packed full of tax increases that will continue to punish American energy producers and job creators. I will continue to advocate for policies that empower American entrepreneurs instead of feeding a bloated centralized government. We need real solutions, not business as usual from the president and Washington D.C.” ### |
