Rep. Gosar Issues Statement on Yarnell Hill Fire Report
Rep. Paul Gosar issued the following statement after the Yarnell Hill Fire Report was released today:
"First, I want to remind the people of Yarnell and the families of the brave men we lost there, that they remain in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve, heal and rebuild their lives and the community.
"I'd also like to thank the many who came together for this thorough report which confirms that the tragic loss of the 19 brave Granite Mountain Hotshots was due to an unfortunate combination of factors."
"Last week, the House passed my legislation which would get people back to work to keep our forests healthy. It is my hope that such legislation can prevent future tragedies like the Yarnell Hill Fire."
Background:
Since 2011, Rep. Gosar has now witnessed and represented areas affected by many devastating wildfires, including the Wallow Fire and the Yarnell Hill Fire. The Wallow Fire was the largest in Arizona history and the Yarnell Hill Fire has resulted in the largest loss of firefighters lives in 80 years.
