Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after signing on as a cosponsor of H.Res.757 which would authorize the House to sue the President or other executive branch officials for actions that are inconsistent with their duties under the Constitution, with respect to immigration laws: “As the president continues to threaten the American people with an executive order granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, House Republicans are taking the necessary steps on behalf of an overwhelming majority of Americans who want to stop the president’s unconstitutional overreach. “H.Res.757 sends a clear message that Congress will use every power vested to us from the Constitution to successfully block any executive order that violates our current immigration laws. Even if the president decides to use ‘prosecutorial discretion’ to actively disregard immigration laws passed by the legislative branch, it is important that the House act NOW to rein in this rogue President threatening our fundamental system of checks and balances while disregarding the rule of law.” Background: The full text of H.Res.757, which was introduced by Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) on Monday November 17, can be found HERE. ###
