Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after becoming an original cosponsor of H.R. 4962, the National Border and Homeland Security Act:

“The Obama Administration has created an immigration crisis by failing to enforce the laws on the books and failing to secure our border. This lack of willpower has generated significant public-health and public-safety dangers for the people of Arizona and citizens throughout the country. I refuse to believe that the United States of America is unable to effectively secure our borders and the National Border and Homeland Security Act provides the necessary tools for accomplishing this task.

“Amongst other things, this legislation will conclude construction of the fence, allow for partnerships with local law enforcement and local governments, create 6,000 new border patrol jobs, and provide our agents with new technologies that will allow them to accomplish their missions.

“Illegal aliens won’t continue to immigrate here by the hundreds of thousands and break our laws if we take away the incentives for such actions. The Administration must secure the border and stop giving amnesty to illegal immigrants. Period.”

Background:

The National Border and Homeland Security Act was introduced by Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) and has 16 original cosponsors including Congressman Gosar.
