Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after Federal Judge Andrew Hanen stopped President Obama's executive immigration order late Monday night, denying millions of illegal immigrant’s access to work permits:

“I applaud Judge Hanen’s decision to put a stop to the lawlessness that we have grown accustomed to from the Obama Administration. This is an important first step to reining in an out of control executive branch and abolishing the precedent of ruling by executive fiat against the will of the American people.”

Judge Hanen’s ruling comes as a result of a lawsuit led by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and 25 other states, including Arizona, that argued President Obama unconstitutionally bypassed Congress when he took executive action last November.

“While this court decision temporarily blocks Obama’s unconstitutional action, we have a long way to go and must not relent in our pursuit of upholding the law. Congress should be emboldened by this decision and Senate Democrats should immediately take up the House passed DHS funding bill and allow for an open and honest debate of this legislation.”
