Rep. Gosar and Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson Urge the Obama Administration to Reverse its Job-Killing Regulations
Washington, DC,
February 28, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 28, 2012 the Obama Administration to Reverse its Job-Killing Regulations Today, the Congressional Western Caucus held a bicameral hearing entitled “Washington Barriers to Prosperity and Property Rights in the West.” U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, D.D.S. (R-AZ) and Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson participated in the hearing denouncing the Obama Administration’s numerous efforts to stifle the use of natural resources for job creation throughout Arizona. During the hearing, Members of Congress and witnesses examined the Obama Administration’s natural resource policies and their negative impact on jobs, economic growth and private property rights in western states and communities. “Arizona is ready to be a national leader in environmentally responsible development of our vast energy and mineral resources and job creation but the federal government is working against us.” said Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ). “Whether it’s stifling recreation in areas like Lake Havasu, over-regulating the Grand Canyon air tour industry, or banning domestic energy production in the Arizona Strip, it is clear the federal government needs to get out of the way and let the rural Arizona economy thrive. I will continue to work with local leaders like Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson and others to champion common sense policies that spur economic growth,” Gosar concluded. “The Arizona Strip, the area lying between the Utah border south to the Grand Canyon, contains less than 1 percent of privately-owned lands, and federal ownership in most of the surrounding counties averages 80 percent or more. Our communities rely on a government that works with us, not against. Unfortunately the latter is true. I appreciate Congressman Gosar’s efforts to spur economic development in northern Arizona, and I will continue to work with Arizona Republican Delegation to reverse the Administration’s job-killing regulations that stifle my communities well-being,” said Buster Johnson, Chairman of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors and Co-Chairman of the AZ/UT Local Economic Coalition. Supervisor Johnson’s full testimony can be found here. Congressman Gosar represents rural Arizona. As a small business owner for over 25 years, Congressman Gosar has spent much of his short time in Congress as an advocate for the streamlining and repeal of burdensome regulations. Congressman Gosar is a principled constitutionalist who supports efforts to minimize the growing bureaucracy and return to a smaller and more accountable government. ### |
