Congressman Paul Gosar on the Passage of the Continuing Resolution

U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-01) on the passage of the FY 2011 Continuing Resolution:

“We cannot spend money we do not have.  We are broke and it appears that the Administration doesn’t get it.  Congress is sent here to do the will of the people, and that is to cut spending and start living within our means.  For years, the people in my district have had to cut back, make difficult decisions and live within a budget- it is time that the Federal Government does the same and get out of the way so that people in my district can get back to work.

“I am proud that under House Republican leadership we were able to cut $100 billion in the next seven months from the FY 2011 continuing resolution with bipartisan support.  But let me be clear, this is just a start.  Our next step is to focus on the FY 2012 budget.  We must make do with less.  We must also come together and address the entitlement problems that threaten the economic stability of our nation.  The America that I know can do this while honoring the promises we made to our seniors and ensuring that the broken system is reformed so that our children and grandchildren aren’t left with mountains of debt.  We also must peel back the onerous government regulations that make it nearly impossible for our small businesses to create jobs.

“I truly believe that we live in an America where we can find the solutions to the problems at hand.  We do not have the time or the luxury to put off these decisions for someone else.  Our future generations deserve better.  Now is the time to work with our communities and bring their ideas back to Washington so that we can continue to keep the American dream alive for generations to come.”

Dr. Paul Gosar is serving his first term in Congress as the Representative to Arizona’s First Congressional District.  As a healthcare provider and small business owner, Gosar is focused on bringing jobs back to the district, reforming health care, reining in government spending and ensuring that his constituents are involved in the solution process.  Gosar encourages his constituents to share their ideas by contacting him online at www.gosar.house.gov
