Congressman Paul Gosar Congratulates the KinLani Bordertown Dormitory in Flagstaff

U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-01) sent his congratulations to the KinLani Bordertown Dormitory in Flagstaff for winning the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) Challenge.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 23, 2011 CONTACT: Stefani Zimmerman, 202-225-2315 Congressman Paul Gosar Congratulates the KinLani Bordertown Dormitory in Flagstaff U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-01) sent his congratulations to the KinLani Bordertown Dormitory in Flagstaff for winning the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) Challenge. “As a dentist I firmly believe in the power of living a healthy lifestyle,” said Congressman Gosar. “I want to congratulate the KinLani Bordertown Dormitory for winning this national competition and for working hard to stay healthy and fit. It is vitally important that we work together as communities to address obesity and other health problems that our facing our region. We can all learn from the hard work and dedication of KinLani Bordertown Dormitory.” The BIE PALA Challenge was launched in February 2011 by the BIE and Nike N7 Ambassador Levi Horn of the Chicago Bears. To successfully complete the challenge, children under the age of 18 had to complete 60 minutes of physical activity five days a week for six weeks, and adults had to complete 30 minutes of physical activity for the same duration. BIE schools across Indian Country had eight weeks to complete their challenges. A total of 6,000 students from across the BIE school system completed the challenge. KinLani Bordertown Dormitory had 100 percent completion by their student body as well as PALA achievements from teachers and staff. Dr. Paul Gosar is serving his first term in Congress as the Representative to Arizona’s First Congressional District.
