Congressman Gosar Supports the Implementation of the Colombia, Panama, and South Korea Free Trade Agreements U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-01) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 3078, the United States-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement Implementation Act, H.R. 3079, the United States-Panama Trade Promotion Agreement Implementation Act, and H.R. 3080, the United States-Korea Free Trade Agreement: “As I travel across my 58,000 square mile congressional district meeting with countless local farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, and business owners, one of the first items they suggest Congress could do immediately to spur economic development and get people to work is swift approval of the long-delayed free trade agreements. The facts are clear - these agreements are good for the country and good for the State of Arizona. Their implementation are vital to increasing American global economic competitiveness and facilitating long-term economic growth. In the agriculture sector alone, these three trade agreements represent almost $2.5 billion in new exports and would generate the economic activity to support over 22,000 jobs. In our state, they are expected to increase exports by over $24 million annually and create thousands of jobs. When the President made his jobs speech last month, I stated there were some initiatives in which we agreed. These three pacts were one of those points and I was proud to vote for each of them. I hope they are expeditiously approved by U.S. Senate sent to the President for his signature.” ### |
