FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 17, 2012 CONTACT: Apryl Marie Fogel AprylMarie.Fogel@mail.house.gov Congressman Gosar Issues Statement on Tax Day Promises to Keep Fighting for Arizona Taxpayers U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, DDS (AZ-R) issued the following statement today on Tax Day. “Today, hardworking Americans across the nation are filing their federal income tax returns. As they look at the amount that they send to Washington, D.C. many are probably thinking to themselves this isn’t the ‘Hope and Change’ they were promised for just four years ago. Our nation remains at a cross-roads that requires our leaders to come to the table and stand up for meaningful comprehensive tax reform. Our current tax code has 3.8 million words, 480 forms and an agency that employs 114,000 people. This is not a tax system, it is means of oppression and confusion. There is no question that it is time to go back to the drawing board and get back to a fairer and flatter system. I find it reprehensible that Americans have to pay so much of their money to the federal government only to see it wasted for parties in Las Vegas by corrupt bureaucrats, bridges to nowhere, and programs we don’t need and can’t afford. We remember today that President Obama and House and Senate Democrats continue to push for additional taxes and class warfare ignoring the reality of our nation’s problems – we have a spending problem not a tax problem. As a member of the freshman class, I was elected to come to Washington D.C. to change the culture of deficit spending and big government and today I renew that promise to pursue legislative opportunities to do just that. Tax reform is long overdue. We can’t wait.” ### |
