  Committee Passes Keep The Promise Act of 2013 After Rep. Gosar Urges Swift Action

 Today, the House Natural Resources Committee passed the Keep the Promise Act of 2013 (H.R. 1410) after Congressman Paul Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) urged swift passage of the bill. Introduced by Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-08), Rep. Gosar is an original co-sponsor. H.R. 1410 prohibits gaming activities on certain Indian lands in Arizona until the expiration of Proposition 202; the state’s voter-approved gaming compact.

Upon the committee’s successful passage of this bill, Rep. Gosar issued the following statement:

“I believe that when a promise is made, it should be kept. Should the agreement Arizona voters made with Indian tribes be broken, we would set a dangerous precedent. I applaud the House Natural Resources Committee today for making the right decision. I now look forward to continuing my efforts to get this bill passed through the full House of Representatives.”

Similar legislation introduced in the 112th Congress passed the House Natural Resources Committee and also passed the full House of Representatives.
