Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced two separate federal grants had been awarded to the Mohave County Regional Airport Authority to be used at the Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport:

“I am thrilled that the Department of Transportation responded favorably to the efforts of the Mohave County Regional Airport Authority to improve the airport. The strong leadership displayed by the workers and management at the Laughlin/Bullhead Airport should be applauded for their proactive and aggressive efforts to modernize the airport and increase tourism. In addition to upgrading the airport’s infrastructure through terminal and runway improvements, airport officials have worked closely with the communities in Arizona, Nevada and California to ensure the economic demand is present to support scheduled air service. The assistance provided by these awards are critical to facilitating the overall mission of the airport and will assist with job creation and economic growth by allowing for an easier flow of people, goods and services.”

Background:

The first Small Community Air Service Development (SCASDP) grant was awarded on June 30, 2016, for the purposes of funding a $ 750,000 revenue guarantee and marketing program to attract new service to Denver, Colorado.

The second DOT discretionary grant was awarded on July 7, 2016, for the purposes of funding a $7,516,038 extension and rehabilitation of the airport runway.
