Gosar Votes for $1.6 Billion in Savings and to Keep Department of Justice Honest

Today, U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, D.D.S (R-AZ) voted to reduce the budget by $1.6 billion through the Commerce, Justice, Science (CJS) Appropriations Act 2013, H.R. 5326.

“With this appropriations bill, as with most, I am left with the daunting feeling we can do more and we must. However, I recognize that we did not get into this fiscal crisis overnight and we cannot get out of it overnight.  This bill reduces spending by $1.6 billion from last year’s budget and is $731 million below the President’s request.  It makes these cuts while preserving the resources needed to fight crime and terrorism and boost U.S. innovation and job creation.”

Gosar went on to note that, “Also, included in today’s cuts were provisions to stop Attorney General Holder and more of his ‘bureaucrats gone wild’ unconstitutional actions including using taxpayer resources to lie to and evade Congressional oversight or stop states from using personal identification required to protect the voting process.  Additionally, I strongly supported the provision included in this legislation to stop the Department of Justice from instituting additional reporting requirements for the purchase of long rifles.”
