House votes to boost huge Arizona copper mine

House passage of a bill to allow creation of North America’s largest copper mine represents more than just an important victory for a project that supporters have been pushing for six years. It also is expected to become a big issue in at least two congressional campaigns in Arizona. And it has been swept up in the national debate between Republicans and Democrats over which party is better at creating jobs...Gosar is the only freshman Arizona member – and one of only about a dozen freshman House members nationwide – to pass a significant bill so far in this session of Congress. “We stopped and listened to the people of the district,” Gosar said in an interview after the vote. “People are tired of the bickering in Congress. They want to see hope. We’re bringing them results.”
