Happy Memorial Day: Remembering All Who Served!
Throughout our history, millions of men and women have selflessly served our country, many paying the ultimate price to defend and protect our freedom and liberty. This Memorial Day, Maude and I honor our fallen heroes. We will never forget.
If you are a Veteran or the family member of a fallen Veteran who resides in Arizona’s Ninth Congressional District and needs help with the Department of Veterans Affairs, please contact my office at 623-707-0530. We will do our best to assist.
Memorial Day Will Cost Every American More $$ Thanks to Bidenflation
This weekend, Americans will be forced to spend much more of their money on barbeques, shopping, and travel plans thanks to Bidenflation. For example:
- 🚨 Memorial Day cookouts will cost more this year, with groceries for the holiday up 10 percent from just a year ago.
- 🚨 Ground beef is up 22 percent, condiments are up 25 percent, beer is up 15 percent, and prepared salads are up 16 percent since January 2021.
- 🚨 Desserts like ice cream, cookies, and pies are up 19 percent, 26 percent, and 32 percent, respectively, since January 2021.
- 🚨 Traveling this weekend? Yikes. It’s going to cost you a lot more. Gas prices are up 55 percent, airline fares up 38 percent, and hotel prices up 50 percent under Joe Biden.
- 🚨 In fact, the average cost of a summer trip is up 7 percent from last year and up nearly 36 percent from 2021.
Gosar Sponsors Legislation to Protect Veterans From Surprise Medical Bills
This Week, I cosponsored H.R. 8481, the Emergency Community Care Notification Time Adjustment Act to protect Veterans and their families from unexpected medical bills in a health emergency.
This legislation changes the Veterans Affairs (VA) notification deadline from within 72 hours of emergency care at non-VA emergency care centers to 72 hours after discharge. Under current law, if a Veteran sought emergency care at a non-VA facility, he or she would need to submit a claim for that care within 72 hours. This bill extends that deadline to a time the Secretary determines appropriate, as long as it is at least 72 hours after discharge.
It may not always be feasible for a Veteran, or someone acting on a Veteran’s behalf, to notify the VA of an emergency treatment event. The last thing a Veteran needs to endure is a hefty penalty or surprise medical bills for failing to meet the 72-hour deadline.
I will continue to support commonsense legislation to improve and expand the VA Community Care Network. Read the full press release here.
Biden Administration Offers Condolences for Butcher of Tehran
This week, Biden’s State Department bizarrely offered condolences to Iran after the death of Iranian President Raisi in a helicopter crash. Raisi “earned” the nickname of the Butcher of Tehran for overseeing countless mass executions of political prisoners. According to the Lawfare Project, Raisi was also “responsible for the incarceration, torture, rape and murder of tens of thousands of people over the last few decades.” Let me be clear: this is not diplomacy, this is weakness. Rather than offer condolences and continue to embark on a strategy to appease Iran, Raisi can rot in hell for his terror, human rights abuses and oppression.
Gosar introduces the La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act
Also this week, I introducing H.R. 8517, the La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act, which transfers 3,400 acres of federal land to La Paz County to help maximize additional renewable energy generation and energy storage capabilities, enhance the local tax base for the county, and facilitate transformative economic development opportunities for county residents.
This critical legislation builds upon previous legislation I introduced which was enacted into law in 2019 by concentrating on a continued goal of creating and enlarging the job and energy hub in La Paz County. The 3,400 acres proposed for conveyance in the La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act includes those remaining parcels in the original proposal that were not enacted into law and adds other parcels that are also compatible for clean energy development.
Home to a flourishing energy development scene, La Paz County has worked to increase renewable energy development by means of sustainable solar power. These efforts deserve to be supported and expanded, as increased energy development benefits Arizonans and the community around them. Empowering local governments to make their own land management decisions by minimizing the federal government’s overarching influence allows for the unique needs of communities to be better addressed.

Gosar Introduces Bill to Reform Federal Contracts
This week I also introduced H.R. 8518, the Responsibility in Federal Contracting Act, legislation that would require the calculation of wages for public works projects be based on actual statistics calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
For far too long, wages for public works projects have been determined by a flawed formula that sacrifices accuracy and billions of federal tax dollars. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has proven time and again that they are the only department capable of accurately determining these wages. Their surveys are much easier to fill out, and the agency follows up with non-respondents–resulting in a response rate of 80% for their own wage surveys, which is much higher than those of WHD. Requiring the BLS to calculate these wages could save hundreds of billions every year on infrastructure projects for the federal government. We owe it to the American taxpayer to spend federal dollars more efficiently, allowing for more jobs and worthwhile projects in the process. The Responsibility in Federal Contracting Act will cut waste, create jobs and save millions for the American taxpayer.

It’s Mail Time!
📬 Each week, I receive thousands of letters and I appreciate hearing from everyone. Here is a sample of letters I received this week.
📨 Raymond A. from Surprise, AZ writes:
After watching on TV that they're going to get free apartments to immigrants I want to know what our country is going to do about standing up for American citizens rights. I don't think it's fair that you're going to give people who break our federal laws free apartments but they're going to let American citizens stay in the street that need homes this is backwards.
📤 Dear Raymond, you’re absolutely correct: it is backwards. It’s not just apartments these lawbreakers receive. They get healthcare, hotel rooms, cell phones, plane tickets, education and social programs like welfare. In fact, Biden’s open border policies cost taxpayers $451 billion each year. House Republicans passed a tough border security bill, H.R. 2, over a year ago but Senator Schumer and Joe Biden refuse to support it. They would rather have a wide-open border than a safe America.
📨 Carol S. from Goodyear, AZ shares:
You should be ashamed! Telling lies about President Biden telling FBI agents to kill Trump during the raid on Mar-a-Lago to return classified documents that Trump swore he did not have is a ridiculous lie. You are a liar!!
📤 Carol, it’s not a lie. It’s right here in black and white. You might also want to check out the “Tweet of the Week” below. The documents clearly reveal that Biden’s FBI was authorized to use deadly force in the raid at President Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago. What “threat” did President Trump pose to warrant his assassination? None. We also know that the FBI tampered with evidence, as I pointed out a few weeks ago in my newsletter. It was all a stunt, a set-up.
📨 Rita H. from Parker, AZ writes:
Regarding the raid at Mar-a-Lago: defund the DOJ,
specifically Jack Smith.
📤 Rita, I’m with you. This witch hunt should never have been allowed and the case should be tossed out. The good news is that the case is postponed indefinitely after Special Counsel Jack Smith admitted the FBI tampered with evidence.
