Happy Mother’s Day!
Gosar Votes Against Measure Halting Effort to Remove the Speaker
This week, I voted against a parliamentary procedure known as a “motion to table” a proposal to remove the Speaker of the House of Representatives. When I added my support behind efforts to remove the Speaker three weeks ago, I noted that nearly 11 million illegal aliens have crossed our southern border since Joe Biden took office.
The Speaker said in January that America’s border crisis was a hill to die on, and I could not agree more. Yet Congress continues to ignore the invasion and, instead, just sent $60 billion to Ukraine on top of the $150 billion the United States has previously wasted on a war that should never have happened. We cannot continue sending billions of dollars to Ukraine while our own border remains an afterthought and lawless. That is why I voted against a parliamentary procedure to table the motion to vacate the Speaker.

Gosar Speaks on House Floor in Support of Mining Regulatory Clarity Act
This week, I took to the House Floor to speak on behalf of H.R. 2925, the Mining Regulatory Clarity Act, legislation that resolves harmful permitting uncertainty and litigation delays caused by a rogue 2019 court decision known as the “Rosemont” decision.
This decision revoked a previously approved mine plan in my great state of Arizona, ignoring 40 years of federal permitting and land management regulations. The uncertainty caused by “Rosemont” threatens to add years of delays to any proposed mining project on federal lands in Arizona and throughout the United States.
Congress should act to remedy the fallout created by Rosemont and must work to expedite mine permitting and build up domestic mineral supply chains. This bipartisan bill passed by a final vote of 216-195 and will provide much-needed certainty for domestic mining projects.

Gosar Votes to Add Citizenship Question to Decennial Census
You may recall a few weeks ago, I wrote in my weekly newsletter about a bill that was voted out of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, on which I serve, that would add a citizenship question to the next decennial census. I am a proud co-sponsor of this important legislation. At the time, I promised faithful Gosar Newsletter readers that would keep you updated.
Backup: for years, from 1820-2000, the U.S. Census Bureau included a citizenship question in the decennial census. Yet, under the Obama Administration, the citizenship question was abandoned in the 2010 questionnaire. Care to guess why?
President Trump understood the importance of counting only citizens and attempted to reinstate the citizenship question in the 2020 census but ultimately the question was removed by a divided Supreme Court. The Supreme Court, however, upheld that the Constitution allows Congress to ask a citizenship question when conducting the decennial census.
Update: this week, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 7109, the Equal Representation Act.
The Equal Representation Act addresses the influence of illegal aliens that are unfairly altering representation in the House, Electoral College votes, and the billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars awarded to blue states with sanctuary cities. The bill would:
- 👉 Require the U.S. Census Bureau to include a citizenship question on all future decennial censuses,
- 👉 Prohibit all non-citizens from being counted toward congressional district and Electoral College apportionment, and
- 👉 Require that the U.S. Census Bureau publicly report on citizenship status data obtained from the census questionnaire.
Surprise, surprise: not a single Democrat voted in favor. Why, you ask? Because the surge of illegal aliens will generally benefit blue states and cause Congress to have an artificially high number of Democrat congressional districts.
Gosar Announces Winners of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition
This weekend, I had the pleasure of announcing the winners of Arizona's Ninth Congressional District Art Competition. This annual contest, first started in 1982 and with over 650,000 participants since, recognizes the best art of the year from high school students. The winners were selected from a panel of local judges and the "People's Choice" winner was selected via online voting.
The winning artist is invited to attend the annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. and their artwork will be displayed for one year on the wall in the walkway from the Cannon House Office Building to the United States Capitol. The second-place winning artwork will be displayed in my office in D.C. and the third-place winning artwork will be displayed in my district office in Goodyear. Prosecutors Tamper with Evidence in President Trump’s Classified Documents Probe
I bet you didn’t read or hear about this from the Fake News this week: Special Counsel Jack Smith was forced to admit that federal prosecutors going after Donald Trump tampered with key evidence that was seized during their unprecedented raid at Mar-a-Lago a few years ago. For example, Biden’s FBI agents added cover sheets marked “classified’ to at least seven photos to mislead the public about the staged photos taken during the raid. In another instance, Smith admitted that documents are not in the same order as they appear in digital scans. In response, the judge overseeing the case has postponed the trial indefinitely. This witch-hunt should never have been allowed and the case should be thrown out.
📫 It’s Mail Time!
Each week I receive thousands of letters, including some hate mail. Every now and then I like to highlight what the so-called peace-loving, tolerant left spew.
Warning, the following letters may contain hateful obscenities and have NOT been edited to remove typographical errors or vulgarities:
📨 Edward F. from Goodyear, AZ vomits:
Spreading the word, Herr Gosar? Watching you slobber over the authoritarianism in Hungary is nauseating. Too bad your constituents are fucking inbred Nazi retards or else they'd realize who you are-the racist, anti-Semitic piece of shit they elect every 2 years. Please develop a disease of some sort you grotesque white supremacist fuck.
📩 Edward, my wishes for your health and spiritual well-being are stated below. I additionally note that Hungary is an amazing country whose Prime Minister has been overwhelmingly reelected several times. The reason why Mr. Orban has such a high level of popularity with the Hungarian people is because he puts Hungary first.
- He has enacted tax policies that encourage marriage and children.
- He has closed Hungary’s borders to illegal immigrants, protecting Hungarian jobs, families and Hungarian culture.
- He has overseen a flourishing economy.
- He seeks peace in the region and does not support Ukrainian Nazis, nationalists and aggression.
All of this has made Hungary prosper. Just like America prospered under President Trump.
📨 Bob B. from Goodyear, AZ shares his thoughts:
You’re an idiot. You will cost the GOP Any chance of winning
in November. It’s hard to believe you’re that stupid.
📨 Charles V. also from Goodyear, AZ screams:
As a person you represent in Arizona I am stunned at the continued arrogance and lack of common sense you continue to show. Your cooperation with MTG to silence Speaker Johnson is embarrassing, unnecessary and plain ridiculous. Johnson is the speaker for the entire House, not just your childish Freedom Caucus. As a former Republican (left the party when trump took over) I insist that you start representing ALL Arizona constituents, not just those who believe in Q Anon, are white supremacists or adhere to a racist philosophy, but all those of us who just want quality representation in Congress.
📩 Edward, Bob and Charles: I am hesitant to dignify your hate-filled tirades with a response. On this Mother’s Day weekend, I certainly will not reply in a similar fashion because my mother raised me better. I don’t harbor the same hatred as you, in fact, I welcome different perspectives and viewpoints, including from those who disagree. Instead, I will add you to my prayer list and ask God that He cover you with His mercy and grace.
