Congress Passes Bill Pushing Back on Judicial Activism
It was a busy week in the nation’s capital. I voted in favor of H.R. 1526, the No Rogue Rulings Act, important legislation that would limit the authority of federal district courts to issue injunctions in response to activist judges who have abused nationwide injunctions to block President Trump's agenda.
Unable to win at the ballot box, Democrats have turned to left-leaning judges to stall President Trump’s efforts to fulfill the American people’s mandate. The truth is that a single district judge should not have the authority to unilaterally issue rulings that affect the entire nation. No one judge, unelectable and unaccountable, should have the power to disenfranchise the votes of nearly 80 million Americans. I went into greater detail about this a few weeks ago in my newsletter, click here to get caught up.
The No Rogue Rulings Act addresses growing concerns over judicial overreach, particularly when individual federal district judges halt President Trump’s executive policies. Activist federal judges should not be the arbiter of policy issues that were designed by the Founders to be addressed through the legislative or executive branches.
House Republicans are standing up for the integrity of our constitutional system. By passing the No Rogue Rulings Act, Congress voted to uphold the Constitution’s systems of checks and balances.

Congress Passes Legislation to Require Proof of Citizenship When Voting
This week, I joined my Republican colleagues in voting in favor of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The SAVE Act strengthens the integrity of our elections by requiring individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections.
Did you know that every state in America requires an individual to be a citizen to register and vote in state and federal elections. It's a felony to falsely claim to be a citizen for any purpose, including to register to vote. Yet, there is no universal requirement for states to obtain proof of citizenship to enforce that requirement.
Sadly, 13 million illegal aliens were welcomed into our country by Joe Biden in the past four years. Several states allow these lawbreakers to obtain a driver’s license, opening the door to opportunities to illegally register to vote in federal elections. In fact, news reports indicate that DOGE has uncovered 2.1 million social security numbers have been assigned by former Biden administration officials to illegal aliens, in violation of federal law. This was done to give them free benefits paid for by you and me and to help register illegal aliens to vote.
American elections should be for American citizens only. In fact, an overwhelming majority of Americans agree with me. A recent poll conducted by Pew shows that 90% of Americans say it is very or somewhat important to stop non-citizens from voting. With millions of illegal aliens now in our country, voters are right to be concerned about the integrity of elections. Prove your citizenship, or you can’t vote. The SAVE Act represents a vital first step toward restoring the integrity of our elections and reaffirming the democratic foundations on which our nation was built. Yet, 208 Democrats voted against preventing noncitizens from participating in American elections. Care to guess why?

Gosar Votes to Advance the Budget Reconciliation
This week I also voted in support of legislation to begin the budget reconciliation process that will enact President Trump’s America First agenda and will reduce wasteful federal spending by at least $1.5 trillion. This important vote will allow the House and the Senate to proceed with that framework to deliver massive tax relief, unleash domestic energy production, fully fund border security and our military, strengthen, secure, and sustain Medicaid for the most vulnerable Americans, while also securing unprecedented savings in wasteful spending.
What's the Latest on Tariffs?
If you're like me, you have heard the word "tariff" this week more than the last ten years combined.
What exactly is a tariff? A tariff is a tax that a government levies on imported goods and products to help protect domestic industries from foreign competition, or to raise revenue for the government.
Today, nearly every country in the world has imposed tariffs on United States manufacturing, making our products more expensive overseas. Other countries, particularly China, have debased their currency and subsidized their exports at the expense of American businesses and the American economy. The net impact has been costly, many American companies have shut down their domestic operations and went overseas and millions of good-paying American jobs have been lost.
President Trump is right to stand up to China and any other country that has imposed tariffs on U.S. manufacturing. The president wants one thing: equal treatment and he has placed sweeping tariffs on foreign countries that have tariffs on the United States. The president asserts that these tariffs will generate substantial revenue while leveling the playing field. It's a bold plan and likely to work if the recent past is prologue.
I remind you that during President Trump’s first term, he successfully implemented tariffs to strengthen the U.S. economy. A 2024 study on the effects of President Trump’s tariffs in his first Administration found that they “strengthened the U.S. economy,” and “led to significant reshoring” in industries like manufacturing and steel production.
So where are we? This week, many countries recognized that they will no longer be able to mistreat America, have shown a willingness to reduce their tariffs and trade barriers and have taken a seat at the negotiating table with the Trump administration. As a result of these good-faith negotiations, the president announced a 90-day pause on tariffs. China, on the other hand, refuses to negotiate therefore the president implemented a 145% tariff, noting that the days of “ripping off Americans are no longer acceptable.” The message to China: President Trump will not bend and he will not break.
President Trump is fighting for good jobs and affordable prices, and fair-trade policies are a critical step to making that possible. As President Trump rightfully notes, America is being liberated from unfair and hostile trade practices that have hollowed out the American manufacturing base and left us reliant on other countries for critical goods. That's about to end under President Trump’s leadership.

If so, high school Juniors, Seniors and parents: you are invited to attend my upcoming Military Academy Day to learn more about how to receive a congressional nomination to a United States military service academy. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies—the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. Details are in the flyer above. 📬 I receive hundreds of letters each month and appreciate hearing from everyone, even those who may disagree with me. Here are a few letters I received this week:

I agree these activist judges have no constitutional right to block any President on how to choose to run the country if the President is following his sworn commitment to the Constitution. But the leftist Democrats crave the power of the government. We went through the last four years of them ruining the county and WE THE PEOPLE had a peaceful Revolution on election day to put an end to it at the ballot box. Now the Democrats are going crazy. So sad that they hate Trump, they hate capitalism, they hate Trump supporters, and they hate America. People are tired of it.
📨 David D. wrote in:
This is fantastic news, thank you for fighting for the people and voting to hold rogue judges accountable.
📨 Christine K. shares:
As always you are FOR the people and middle class. Thank you for voting judicial tyranny and keep up the great work you are doing for America.
✍ Dear Dave, David and Christine, thank you for taking the time to write in. The American people gave President Trump an electoral mandate on election day, and he is making good on every campaign promise at record speed in his first few months in office. The radical left never gives up power and they are fighting tooth and nail to protect the bloated and corrupt federal bureaucracies that act as the ATMs fueling their sinister progressive agenda. Democrats are losing their minds, pitching fits, rioting and litigating every policy and executive order to stall or slow the America First agenda. Shopping the country for corrupt, liberal federal judges to sabotage President Trump has become the new norm. To date, dozens of lawsuits have been filed against the Trump Administration, and more are on the way. While most will be overturned by the Supreme Court, the legal process moves very slowly.
As I noted above, by extending their personal beliefs and influence into areas reserved for the executive branch these activist judges are engaging in judicial tyranny: usurpation of power to prevent the normal and lawful functioning of the government.
Despite the rhetoric from the left, these activist judges not President Trump or DOGE, are creating the real constitutional crisis. The emergence of judicial activism underscores the necessity for Congress to utilize the powers granted by Article I of the Constitution to restore balance among the branches of government, rein in activist federal judges and hold them accountable that is necessary to the functioning of our Republic.
It is imperative that Congress actively engage to uphold the intentions of the framers, ensuring that the judiciary remains a body dedicated to impartial interpretation rather than an institution compelled by personal ideology - and that is precisely why I voted for the No Rogue Rulings Act this week.
