Important Update on My Mining Law in Superior
Late last week, Federal Judge Dominic Lanza issued an astute, carefully written and legally correct decision rejecting the far-left’s ongoing efforts to stop the implementation of an important mining law I introduced in 2011.
As many of you know, legislation I introduced known as the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange Actpaved the way for the nation’s largest copper mine in Superior, Arizona. Since the day it was signed into law in 2014, the leftists have been in court using law fare to stop it.
Judge Lanza explained the proper role of the courts versus Congress. He wrote that “Congress chose to pursue the land exchange despite the existence of many significant trade-offs and the president chose to ratify Congress’s choice by signing the law into effect. … As a result, the Court must accept that this choice advances the public interest and operate from that premise.”
This is how a real judge, not an activist, applies the law. The courts are not there to rewrite congressional policy. They are there to enforce it. Despite environmentalist groups immediately filing an appeal with the 9th U.S. Circuit of Appeals, after more than a decade the litigation abuse, the end may be finally near.
Also, in case anyone still has any doubt, the environmental concerns are exaggerated and fully remediated. Claims that this land is somehow “sacred” as was first alleged in 2010 have been debunked by a tribal historian who conducted a thorough review and concluded that this land was never sacred and has no value to the tribe. Indeed, it’s not even on tribal land. It’s public land that we all own. Let’s get mining!

Biden Allowed Tens of Thousands of Illegals into Arizona to Alter Elections
A damning report issued this week by Pew Research shows that the number of illegal aliens in the United States reached an all-time high in 2023, including more than 50,000 illegals welcomed into Arizona during Biden’s term in office. To be honest, I think it is significantly higher. However, the analysis reveals how Biden packed key electoral swing states with millions of illegal aliens from 2021 through 2023, including Florida, Nevada, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Caroline, Ohio and Arizona. As the New York Post points out, there is mounting evidence that the Biden administration tried to cook the books to give Democrats an unfair advantage, which explains why a minority of Democrats (43% compared to 83% Republicans) approve of President Trump’s decision to take a new census that excludes illegal aliens from the population count. Joe Biden and Democrat politicians wanted more illegal aliens in these key states because they believed they were importing more voters for life. It’s really that simple. Thankfully, since President Trump took office, illegal immigration has ground to a halt. As I noted in a recent newsletter, zero illegal aliens were released into the country for the third consecutive month. President Trump is working around the clock to restore our nation’s sovereignty following Biden’s unprecedented border crisis and is on pace to deport as many as one million lawbreakers from the United States this year.

China Wants Afghanistan’s Critical Mineral
Trillions of dollars spent, a botched withdrawal and thousands of Americans killed or wounded in Afghanistan and for what? Zip. Nada. Nothing. After more than twenty years of fighting and rebuilding Afghanistan, the United States found out this week that China and Afghanistan are holding talks on exploring and mining minerals in Afghanistan. The Taliban sit on a largely unexplored but significant natural resource wealth valued at over $3 trillion. According to news reports, Afghanistan, rich in lithium, copper and iron deposits, could offer a wealth of mineral resources to boost China’s security in return for engaging in “cooperation for various fields with Afghanistan.” Translation: Selling the minerals to China will give significant cash to the Taliban and allow China to gobble up more critical minerals. This is what American involvement in forever wars results in.
Davis Dam to Offer Public Tour
Mark this on your calendar and try to attend: Davis Dam is opening the power plant for one day only on September 27 in celebration of National Public Lands Day. This is a rare opportunity to experience up close one of the most iconic dams in the Western United States and will inspire countless Arizonans, strengthen community bonds, and offer a truly memorable way to celebrate our shared public lands. Authorized in 1941 and completed in 1951, Davis Dam was built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation just downstream from the Hoover Dam. Its purpose was to regulate water releases and generate power. Lake Mohave was created by the Davis Dam, which today extends over 65 miles towards Lake Mead, and is used for water storage, hydroelectric power, flood control, and of course outdoor recreation. I’m grateful to the Bureau of Reclamation and the efforts of Mohave County Supervisor Lettman for making this exciting event possible and giving the public a chance to deepen their understanding of Davis Dam. The one-day event will feature special guided tours of the Davis Dam, showcasing its vital role in providing water and power to the Southwest, while connecting visitors with the rich fabric of American history. You need a ticket to attend, and availability may be limited. More information about the Davis Dam tour can be found by clicking here.
It's Mail Time!
📬 I receive hundreds of letters each month and I appreciate everyone who writes in, even those that I disagree with! Here is a letter I received this week:
📨 Andrea C. from Surprise, AZ writes:
I want a permanent withdrawal from the WHO. As your constituent, I’m urging you to cosponsor H.R. 3839, which would make the United States' withdrawal from the World Health Organization permanent. The Biden administration reversed the previous withdrawal process and kept the U.S. in the WHO. While the recent Executive Order to restart the exit is an important step, it is not permanent and could be undone at any time. This important decision is being made unilaterally by the executive, but the American people want representation and accountability. That’s why we need Congress to act, to lock in this critical step by making the withdrawal law.
✍ Dear Andrea, as you rightfully note HR 3839 would codify President Trump’s Executive Order 14155 “Withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization.” As you may know, President Trump reissued this EO on his first day in office due to the World Health Organization’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization, despite receiving the greatest economic contribution from the United States, sought to protect and distract from China’s mishandling of the virus during the initial stages – thus endangering millions of Americans with faulty science. In 2020, the German media outlet Der Spiegel reported that Germany’s federal intelligence service acquired information about a reported phone call between WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus and President Xi Jinping. In that phone call, President Xi Jinping pressured the WHO to “cover up” the lab origins of the COVID-19. The WHO, against the interests of other contributors to the organization, deflected attention away from China’s role in allowing the virus to spread from its Wuhan bioweapons lab.
This bill will codify President Trump’s EO, allowing America to once again pursue policies independent of the WHO’s “recommendations” on dealing with future pandemics. This is important because by withdrawing from the WHO as a matter of law, future administrations will not be able to “opt back in” to this flawed organization.
The actions by WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus are nothing short of disgraceful: he worked on behalf of a foreign government against the interests of other countries that would be adversely impacted by his choice. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the WHO recently created a DEI department aimed at providing “gender-affirming care” to all member states.
In principle, I agree with this legislation and will take a closer look at becoming a cosponsor. The health of Americans should be our government’s number one priority. Our country’s response to pandemics, diseases, and other illnesses should not be dependent on globalist technocrats who bend the knee to China’s interests; it should be led by American scientists who know how to adapt national emergencies to fit our unique form of republican governance. The WHO has shown that it does not act impartially in its treatment of emergencies, favoring autocratic countries over the democracies that contribute most of its funds. For that reason, I support President Trump’s permanent withdrawal of America from the WHO until it stops endorsing globalist agendas designed to undermine our national sovereignty.
