This week, I was pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is awarding a $1,000,000 grant to WestCare Arizona, Incorporated in Bullhead City, Arizona.
WestCare Arizona, which operates Hildy’s House and other programs in Bullhead City, will receive this critical funding to continue the vital role in caring for people with drug addiction and other substance abuse problems in a dignified, private, and successful way.
Hildy’s House is a 16-bed, behavioral health residential center located in Bullhead City, Arizona that provides treatment for drugs and alcohol addiction. It is named after County Supervisor Hildy Angius, who is an outspoken supporter of recovery.
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to personally see the work WestCare is providing in Bull Head City and met the staff and residents of Hildy’s House. Helping the forgotten victims of the illegal drug trade is long overdue and I congratulate WestCare, Cheryl DeBatt and Supervisor Angius for the accomplishments to date and look for more good news in the future.
Because of Hildy’s House, countless women in our community have been helped. This funding ensures that Hildy’s House will continue to offer hope to many more struggling with addiction and want to recover.

The district work period allows me the opportunity to travel throughout my congressional district meeting with many constituents. This week, I had the opportunity to meet with a large group of area bankers to have a candid conversation about the direction our country and our economy are heading.
I shared the concerns I have that Mr. Biden’s spending packages will badly hurt our frail economy that is still struggling to rebound from the pandemic. That’s because much of these spending plans are financed by new debt. It’s now estimated that the national debt will skyrocket to $45 trillion if these plans are enacted.
Americans are already struggling to pay Mr. Biden’s hidden tax of rising prices caused from inflation. A recent poll shows that four out of five voters are very worried that all this new spending will lead to tax hikes - and for good reason. That’s because Mr. Biden’s spending plans would raise taxes on everyone by nearly $3.5 trillion over the next decade.
I fundamentally disagree that raising taxes or spending money we don’t have will help the economy. But you don’t have to believe me. According to the Tax Foundation, Biden’s tax increases would reduce GDP by 1.62%. And a report came out just this week that showed inflation has completely wiped out pay raises for Americans. In fact, compensation is now lower today than it was in 2019 when inflation is taken into account.
When I travel throughout my district, small business owners up and down Main Street tell me their biggest challenge right now is the federal government - in the form of compliance, regulations and taxes.
What they tell me is that Biden’s reckless tax and spending spree isn’t working. Instead of building on the economy he inherited, Biden is squandering it, and every American is paying the price.

In 2019, President Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a notice of violation against the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) for willingly violating federal conscience protection laws. Specifically, UVMMC forced a nurse to assist in an elective abortion despite her well-known objections to abortion.
Sadly, in a profound miscarriage of justice, Secretary of Health and Human Services Becerra withdrew the request initiated by President Trump and the Department of Justice (DoJ) subsequently dropped the lawsuit.
In response, I joined a group of legislators from the House and the Senate in sending a letter Attorney General Garland and Secretary Becerra expressing my outrage with this decision and demanding answers to the legal justification for such an action.

The Biden border crisis grows worse every month. It was announced this week that in July over 212,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended along the southern border. This is nearly 25,000 more than June and it 420 percent higher than last July. Along with the illegal immigrants comes an alarming amount of drugs. 771 pounds of fentanyl and 17,792 pounds of methamphetamine were seized in July. We are on pace to have over 2 million people cross the southern border by October. But it gets worse. The Biden administration is releasing COVID-positive illegal immigrants in our communities. In McAllen, Texas, for example, 7000 COVID-positive illegal migrants have been released since February! So while Mr. Biden pushes his vaccine mandate upon American citizens, he gives plane and bus tickets out to COVID-positive illegals to travel throughout the United States.
In response, I joined my Republican colleagues on the House Oversight and Reform Committee and sent a letter demanding a field hearing in New Mexico with Mr. Biden and members of his homeland security and infectious disease teams.

It is a few months before the next tax season and 35 million Americans still have not received their tax return, including countless Arizonans. Many of you have been writing and calling me about this issue and two weeks ago I updated you on a letter I sent to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) demanding answers to what the agency is doing to resolve the backlog, get you your rightfully owed return, and ensure Americans could receive proper customer service.
To keep the pressure on, I joined several of my colleagues on another letter again expressing our concern for the still unprocessed tax returns and what the IRS was doing to resolve this pressing issue.

Biden’s budget is an absolute disaster, including a request for the Army Corps of Engineers to achieve an objective that includes “not funding work that directly subsidizes fossil fuels including work that lowers the cost of production, lowers the cost of consumption, or raises the revenues retained by producers of fossil fuels.” This vague inclusion not only usurps Congressional authority but also raises serious concerns about the Administration’s priorities threatening national security, critical energy infrastructure, and access to affordable and reliable energy. I joined Republicans on a letter expressing concern for this and demanding answers.
OnlyFans, a website where individuals can pay content creators for subscriptions, has become a site where pornographic content is sold. Of even greater concern is the known presence of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) hidden behind these numerous paywalls, as well as its facilitation of prostitution. In April, I asked the Department of Justice to investigate OnlyFans for violating the Mann Act for facilitating interstate prostitution. This week, I joined other concerned members of Congress asking the DOJ to conduct investigations into the presence of CSAM on OnlyFans and outline actions it will take to protect minors.

I met with some of my constituents in Yuma, and was joined by Joe Kent, as we witnessed illegal aliens walking into our country, to be welcomed by the Biden Administration, and then given food, housing, transportation, spending money and healthcare at our expense. This is an immoral affront to our sovereignty.
