A Week of Exceptionally Bad News

I’m an optimistic guy, a glass-is-half-full kind of person but this week the news across the country was down-right horrific.  For example, UPS announced it was laying off more than 12,000 employees, Paypal announced it was letting go of nearly 1,000 employees and American Airlines let go of 655 associates as Bidenomics continues its strangle on America’s economy.  A new ResumeBuilder pollshows that 38% of businesses think additional layoffs are likely at their company this year. 

Elsewhere this week, six God-loving, peaceful pro-life activists were found guilty of violating the FACE Act after Biden’s Department of Justice went after them.  Their crime? Singing hymns like “Holy, Holy, Holy” and daring to utter the words “a baby is a gift from God” at an abortion provider’s office.  They now face 11 years hard time for choosing life over the murder of innocent babies.

The bad news did not stop there.  The Daily Mail reported this week that the federal government paid millions of taxpayer dollars to fund the pregnancies of more than 250 transgender men (biological women).  These transgender men have decided they want to have a child and rely on our paychecks to pay for their pregnancy services, including family planning, artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization.  Folks, we are witnessing the complete destruction of the traditional American family.

It was also reported this week that a dozen or more officials from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) were directly involved in the horrific October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks in Israel that killed more than 1,200 people, including many Americans.  It turns out that there are nearly 200 UNWRA staff moonlighting as Hamas terrorists.  Since 2013, the United States has provided UNRWA more than $2.5 billion in taxpayer dollars, apparently to fund terrorist activities.  Why are we giving a single dime to the United Nations?  President Trump rightfully cut funding to UNRWA only to have Biden reverse course when he took office. 

Crime in Washington, D.C. has always been a problem, but in recent years violent crimes have skyrocketed.  Recently, for example, a congresswoman was assaulted in an elevator, a staffer for Senator Paul was stabbed nearly to death, another staffer was targeted for a home invasion and a congressman had his car hijacked a gunpoint.  This week, crime hit a new low in Washington, D.C. as a former Trump official died after being shot in the head by a carjacker.  The same gunman shot dead another victim whose car he stole and attempted three additional car-jackings before being shot dead by police officers in Maryland.   One would think a competent local government would crack down on crime, instead local police in Washington, D.C. do not arrest many suspects, and those that are arrested, the far-left prosecutors refuse to prosecute two thirds of the arrestees.  The prosecutor in D.C. decides which cases to charge and how the government presents its evidence.  In recent years, the prosecutor has declined to prosecute so many crimes that now most arrests don’t result in charges.  With inaction like this, it’s no wonder why crime is out of control. 

Crime is out of control everywhere, not just in Washington, D.C.  This week, six illegal aliens beat the hell out of two police officers in New York City.  They crossed the border illegally, beat up two cops and were set free within hours.  After being set free with no bail, one of these punks grinned and flipped the bird to the reporters covering the story.  Not a real surprise anymore, but one of these scums has previously been arrested twice for assault and battery but was back on the streets for more mayhem.  They all should be deported, but will they?  Doubtful.

Sadly, it was reported this week that the Customs and Border Patrol seized 300 pounds of deadly drugs, including fentanyl, at the southern border last week.  That’s just in one single week!  These drug supplies are shipped from China and manufactured in Mexico before making their way through our open border destroying communities across our country.

Finally, it was also reported this week that Ukrainian officials have stolen more than $40 million in American taxpayer dollars meant for more bullets and mortar rounds to kill more people as our government continues to fund the proxy war with Russia.  There is no telling how truly widespread the corruption is because there are no oversight or accountability systems in place in Ukraine.  We have blindly given Ukraine more than $120 billion dollars and counting.  However, you can bet the embezzlement is large scale and far greater than the $40 million being reported. 

I share all this bad news not to depress you, rather, because there can be no doubt that Biden and the left’s warmongering, open border, soft-on-crime, spend-as-much-as-you-want and weaponized federal government policies are directly contributing to our nation’s problems.  They have driven our country into a ditch.  It’s time we take the keys back.

Biden Bears Responsibility for American Deaths: Provokes War In Middle East 

Speaking of horrific news, it is profoundly saddening that three American service members were recently killed by a drone strike in the Middle East.  However, the Biden administration bears full responsibility for this attack.  How so, you might ask? 

First, why do we have 3,000 U.S. troops at the junction of the Iraq, Jordan and Syrian border? Congress has not authorized this base, called Tower 22.  

Occupying someone else’s country is an aggressive act of war.  Congress did not authorize this occupation and it is an unconstitutional usurpation of the congressional War Powers Act.  Placed in harm’s way, these troops are being used as bait.   Predictably, like what happened this week, troops will get killed as someone in those countries will take the bait.  

Our own border is wide open.  Yet Biden has stationed 3,000 troops to lure attacks along the Syrian border.   The end game for Biden and the neocons is to drop bombs on Iran or Iranian proxies.  This will drag us into more endless wars and billions more dollars wasted.  And that’s exactly what happened.  And it will continue. 

Joe Biden also irresponsibly reopened the nuclear arms negotiations, empowering Iran.  He gave Iran $6 billion dollars which has helped fund Iran’s proxies while refusing to enforce the Trump-imposed Iranian oil sanctions.   By doing so, Biden allowed Iran to rake in billions in profits. Biden also reversed the Trump-imposed freeze on millions of dollars that were diverted to Iran-sponsored terrorist activities.

Let’s be honest: we have no business hanging out in the Syrian desert.  It’s high time the U.S. leave these people alone and let them run their countries.  They are no threat to us otherwise.   They are a threat when we provoke them by occupying their lands. 

Gosar Votes to Expand Ban on Terrorists from the United States

This week I joined 421 other members of Congress in voting in favor of H.R. 6679, the No Immigration Benefits for Hamas Terrorists Act, legislation that would ban Hamas terrorists from entering the United States.  While Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have previously been banned from the United States, this bipartisan legislation expands the ban to include members of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and any other terrorist groups involved in the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel.  Two democrat members of the Hamas Caucus, Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush, sided with Hamas and voted against this bill.

Gosar Votes to Protect Social Security Benefits

Did you know that every year millions of Americans fall victim to social security fraud, including identity theft at the hands of illegal immigrants?  For example, last October an illegal alien was arrested for using a fake social security number. Maybe you’ve been victimized.  If so, you know that social security fraud can cause you to lose your hard earn benefits or damage your credit rating.  You might even receive a tax bill on income you didn’t earn.  In response, this week I also voted in favor of H.R. 6678, the Consequences for Social Security Fraud Act.  This legislation protects Americans hard earned social security benefits by ensuring that criminal aliens who commit social security fraud or identity theft are held accountable by facing deportation.  

Illegal Aliens Driving Drunk
It’s no surprise that if your first step in our country is to break our laws, that an illegal alien might ignore other laws too.  This week, I voted in favor of H.R. 6976, the Protect our Communities from DUIs Act,bipartisan legislation would allow us to forever ban from reentry and make ineligible for residency any illegal alien who is convicted of drunk driving. 

Illegal aliens have killed thousands of Americans in DUI incidents.  Finally, Congress has acted.  While this bill passed with every Republican voting yes, I’m pleased to note that nearly 40 democrats also joined.  It shouldn’t surprise us anymore, but 150 democrats voted to help vicious drunk drivers who kill and maim people on our highways.  Yet, it’s still amazing that 150 democrats, when given the choice, voted to help illegal alien drunk drivers over the dead or injured American citizens. 

Almost Perfect 

The voting records for members of Congress was recently released for 2023 and I can report that there were 724 recorded votes last year and I voted 99% of the time.   You may ask what happened on the five votes you missed?  Let me tell you: late airplanes or cancellations from Phoenix to Washington, D.C., congressional hearings that run late, meetings in my office that took longer than planned and a doctor’s appointment.  My 99% is better than many Members of Congress but keep in mind there are a lot of competing demands on a Member’s time. My worst year was when I had to miss a couple weeks for hip surgery.  During that time there were a lot of votes.  Even this year I have a couple doctor’s appointments.  I’ll do my best to make every vote. With few exceptions, nothing is more important than voting on behalf of you and it is an honor to do so. 

House Committee on Homeland Security Votes to Move Forward with Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas, Full House of Representatives to Vote Next Week

Following a thorough, year-long investigation by the House Committee on Homeland Security into the consequences of the invasion along the southern border, the House Homeland Security Committee voted this week to move forward with articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas for his failure to legally secure the southern border.  As I have noted countless times, more than 10 million illegal aliens, including more than 90,000 criminals and terrorists, have been welcomed into our country by Secretary Mayorkas and Joe Biden in the past three years.  Countless more get away.  Mayorkas willfully ignored the law and has repeatedly lied to Congress and the American people regarding this invasion.  The next step is for the entire House of Representatives to vote to impeach Secretary Mayorkas, likely scheduled for next week.  I will be voting yes and will have more to share in next week’s newsletter.  Stay tuned!

Team Gosar Celebrates Opening of Ash Fork Post Office

Five or six years ago, I received a call from a citizens group in Ash Fork asking me to work with the United States Postal Service to either expand the current Post Office in Ash Fork or construct a new building to accommodate the influx of people who rely on the post office.  After several community meetings and discussions with USPS officials, it was determined the best option was to construct a new building on some nearby property.  After a long negotiation process, the land was secured for the new post office and this week my amazing staff attended the official groundbreaking ceremony.  This was a huge win for the community, and I am grateful to have helped make this a reality for the great citizens of Ash Fork!

I receive thousands of letters each week, including 5,500 this January.  I appreciate hearing from everyone.   Here are samples of some of the letters I received this week:

Dear Representative Paul Gosar of Arizona’s 9^th District, it was a true pleasure meeting you at the Fraunces Tavern Museum on your recent visit to NYC. I volunteer on weekends as a docent at the museum to give tours. I am a member of the museum’s book club and have a strong love and passion of American history and the revolutionary era in particular. I am presently reading General Mike Flynn’s recommendation “A Patriot’s History of the United States” by Allen & Schweikart.  Also, a quick thank you for the congressional coin you gave me, it is a proud remembrance of mine to hold.  You are one of my few heroes in congress.  Being America First and a strong protector of our federal Constitutional republic, I can’t thank you enough for your service to our great country and honoring your sworn oath to protect our constitution. Our nation is facing an uphill battle, the present administration is set on policies that knowingly destroy and divide us. Sir, I proudly want to wish you the very best in the future in happiness and health and to let you know how much the people of this country cherish having a strong America First Representative working for them. I want you to know my opinion on the Senate bill on immigration that may be headed your way.  Unless it permanently closes the border to illegal aliens, I am against it. None of this asylum crap. 

Also, it must contain a clause to deport 100% of illegal aliens.  Otherwise please vote against it. I know you have good judgment!

Robert, thank you.  I believe I have good judgment, too.   Which is why I will definitely vote against it. 

Our border system is not “broken.”  Anyone who tells you that is taking you for a fool as they want to “fix” the “broken” system.   And strangely enough, their fixes always include, 100% of the time, amnesty for criminals. 

Right now there are between 30 and 40 million illegal aliens in this country. Believe it or not, they get counted by the census.  And then the states that have the most illegal aliens then get more congressional seats.  It’s a sham designed to dilute your representation and disenfranchise citizens. 

The democrats correctly believe that 80% of the illegal aliens will vote socialist-democrat.  Once they get amnesty the Republican party will be gutted and you could barely see 100 Republicans in the House. 

All 30-40 million illegal aliens need to be deported.   We cannot be the only nation in the world with open borders.  Indeed, a country without a border, without a common language and without a shared culture is not a nation.   

Over 10 million illegal aliens have walked across our border in three years.  That is almost the same amount of legal aliens processed at Ellis Island, our nation’s immigration port of entry, in 70 years. 

We once provided amnesty to three to four million illegal aliens in the 1980’s. Within a couple years, California went from being a red state to a permanent blue state.  That is what the socialist-democrats want for us today nationwide.

Sir, if you happen to see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tell her thank you from me. Although I imagine you don't hang out with her, I think even you have to admit she is a remarkable person. I tried to send her an email however she only takes those who are within her district which makes sense.

I do see AOC and I serve on a committee with her.  I will let her know she has a fan in my district.  She is a well-spoken advocate for her ideas and she fights for her ideals.  I fight for mine and we rarely agree.  Here’s proof that we talk!

The defense of our civil liberties, including our right to self-defense, can never take a day off. The left is constantly trying to usurp your Second Amendment rights.  Not on my watch, not on my watch!
