Gosar Opens New Office in Goodyear, Open House Draws Full Crowd
On Tuesday, I hosted an open house at my new district office in Goodyear, Arizona and wow, what a huge turnout! So many people came out that we decided to host an hour-long impromptu town hall meeting. My apologies to those that had to wait out in the hall because of the crowd size and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who visited my district office. If you need help with a federal agency or wish to share your views or concerns about a federal policy, please stop by my district office located at 1300 South Litchfield Road, Suite 115-H in Goodyear!
Gosar Hosts “Sold Out” Water Roundtable Discussion
Speaking of overflow crowd, this Thursday I hosted a roundtable discussion with experts, local leaders and elected officials in Goodyear on water, desalination and the future of Arizona. We had a full room of constituents interested in participating in the discussion.
Our nation has a history of great projects. From the Golden Gate Bridge to the Hoover Dam, we have and can build great things. It is time we build the next great thing.
The early leaders of Arizona understood we could be an incredible oasis in the desert if we brought water. Starting in the early 1900s, seven states along the shores of the Colorado River agreed on a formula to share river water. Then, in 1968, Congress authorized a series of canals and dams to supplement the existing canals and dams to bring water to Phoenix and Tucson and points along the way, such as Lake Havasu and Lake Pleasant.
The time has now come to build more water infrastructure. We are looking at desalination plants, pumping stations and pipelines to bring new water to Arizona. We are also looking at small modular nuclear reactors to provide reliable and green energy.
As the Founder and Chairman of the House Congressional Colorado River Caucus, I have been a staunch advocate of water conservation and reasonable water disbursement plans. Arizonans can all agree that water should be easily accessible while balancing the importance of conservation and responsible use in order to protect our most precious resource for ourselves and our future generations. I firmly believe that together, the government and the private sector can and should work to find the solutions that advance policies that help Arizonans and all Americans to better access our water. If we are not united, we don’t stand a chance to solve the drought and the supply/demand imbalance.
I’d like to thank all the panelists including Glendale Councilmembers Ray Malnar and Bart Turner, Mark Lewis from the Water Resource Institute, Lake Havasu City Mayor Cal Sheehy, Amanda Monize and Patrick Dent from the Central Arizona Project, Kerri Hatz and Michael Pearce from the Mohave Valley Irrigation District, Representative Tim Dunn, Clint Chandler from the Department of Water Resources, Goodyear Councilwoman Wally Campbell, Barbara Chappell from the City of Goodyear, Jim Marchant, Buckeye Councilmembers Craig Heustis and Michelle Hess, Paul Michael Wihbey, Javier Setovich and Bobby Anastasov from the City of Buckeye, Jack Lunsford from the Lunsford Group, Mike Boule from the City of Surprise and Surprise Mayor Skip Hall.
Following the roundtable, I received feedback from many people who attended including this thoughtful note from Professor Gene Aldridge from the Arizona Liberty Public Policy Institute:
The meeting with Congressman Gosar on the desalinization of water project was terrific.
We reviewed the project that has been proposed in Mexico to desalinize water from the Sea of Cortez; we reviewed the new technologies to reduce energy costs for moving water by using small nuclear fusion energy producing generators that last twenty years and reduce the cost of piping the water; we discussed total costs of the project and the layers of costs that are produced by water desalinization and water distribution; the role of native Americans and how they fit into the legal matrix of AZ water in the state; we reviewed the many ways in which “bureaucracy” like the EPA and Nuclear regulatory agencies have refused and stifled projects with high cost regulations on water; many towns and cities were represented by Mayors and city officials on water and how different each area or state region has been in controlling, distributing, and conserving water; in fact, one city is dependent on the Colorado River as their only source of water in AZ; how crazy the environmentalists have been in raising costs for such projects in CA for water desalinization; why the current AZ project proposal is a national security risk by being placed in Mexico rather than Texas for redistribution under a Western Governors Association project for several states, thus reducing costs for individual states; we discussed the current Colorado River Compact and how it will need to be reviewed in light of any new desalinization water project that is created; and there was a call to create a new feasibility project assessing a desalinization project using the Gulf Of Mexico and pipeline systems to the Western States who want to participate.
Congressman Gosar should be congratulated for his efforts on this issue, especially. The meeting appeared to turn the tide against any project with Mexico while moving the Israeli IDE Technologies effort to Texas where national security can be preserved on important natural resources. The innovations using twenty-year nuclear generators for power along the pipelines drastically reduces costs of overland piping. We all had the opportunity to raise questions and speak to the issues of import for each of us.
My new Congressman Gosar produced for us real engaging problem-solving for our new district. Congratulations to all who made this happen. Our ECRC group was well represented during this meeting….Estrella, Buckeye, Goodyear! The attendance for the meeting was huge…the room was full….over 150 attended by my last count.
AZ state legislative leadership better heed the message from this community-wide meeting and redirect water desalinization efforts to Texas and the Gulf of Mexico forthwith.

Coffee is Served!
I recently hosted another “Coffee with the Congressman” in Avondale, Arizona and a great crowd of patriots showed up for a cup of Joe and a good conversation on the important issues that matter most! Thank you to everyone who attended. I enjoy hosting these intimate coffee meetings because they allow me the opportunity to meet directly with my constituents in a more personal atmosphere. If you would like to receive information on my next “Coffee with the Congressman” please email my District Director, Penny Pew, at penny.pew@mail.house.gov.
Gosar Attends Lake Havasu City Memorial Bridge Bricklaying Ceremony
Earlier this week, I had the honor to participate in this year’s Havasu Memorial Walkway bricklaying ceremony. The ceremony honors those who protect and secure our freedoms.
Firefighters, First Responders, Navajo Code Talkers, Healthcare heroes, Blue and Gold Star Families and of course our veterans and servicemembers. I’m grateful to everyone who took part by donating a brick on the beautiful bridgewater channel to honor our loved ones. These donations provides a lasting memory to those that have paid a heavy price for the freedoms we enjoy and often take for granted. I would also like to thank Mayor Cal Sheehy and all the volunteers and members of the Lake Havasu City Public Works Department who dedicated countless hours to make this a huge success.
It’s Mail Time!
I receive a lot of mail each month and I love to hear from you, even those that disagree with me and name call!
Here’s a small sample of the letters I received this week:
James P. from Bullhead City urges fiscal restraint and writes this about raising the debt ceiling:
The Republican Congress have this one chance to force the democrats to REPROGRAM all the sloshing unspent billions. Make the Democrats pick their priorities. Do not give them another blank check to squander on things that do not matter to American citizens.
Dear James,
One of my primary motivations that led to my first run for Congress in 2010 was concern regarding excessive spending. Many in Congress pretend that our enormous national debt is like a benign tumor that just sits there and does not harm anyone.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Taxes must be sky high to cover the debt. Our country’s excessive borrowing, that funds a war in a country 6,000 miles away to the tune of $100 billion and which pays people not to work, has led to skyrocketing, crushing inflation during the Biden administration.
Solving our debt crisis would reduce inflation, lead to lower taxes, encourage investment in innovation and job creators, incentivize savings, and make America a manufacturing and creativity hub once again. Middle-class livelihoods depend on this battle over the nation’s debt. I will only vote to extend the debt ceiling if major spending concessions are implemented that do NOT include changes to Social Security and Medicare. A financial and economic system that empowers elites is enough of a burden. Betraying a contract that people have paid into for their whole lives is a step I emphatically reject. There are many other areas of our budget that can be trimmed that can reduce our deficit to zero without touching these vital benefits that our seniors rely on. Know that I am looking forward to a rigorous debate on some major cutting!
On this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Deneen B. from Golden Valley shares this Irish blessing:
AN IRISH BLESSING FOR YOU TODAY!
"May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sunshine warm up on your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May GOD hold you in the palm of His hands."
XOXO.
Dear Deneen, thank you and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Larry E. from Fort Mohave expressed his views on the recent banking crisis:
The well is dry. Let Silicon Valley Bank depositors fix their own mistakes. No bail outs.
Tom F. from Parker shared similar views:
I want to encourage and support your vote AGAINST any attempt to use taxpayer money to bailout SVB. Regardless of any promises the LEFT makes to sway your vote. Please keep up your important conservative populist stance.
Dear Larry and Tom,
Thanks for the notes. Biden’s economic policies created the conditions that lead to SVB’s large losses and eventually the bank run. SVB invested a large portion of its deposits in mortgage-backed securities and Treasury bonds. When interest rates were low, thanks in large part to President Trump, it seemed like a sound investment. However, when Bidenflation started to run out of control it forced the Fed to raise interest rates. As interest rates rose, the value of SVB’s mortgage-backed securities and Treasury bond holdings fell drastically. At the same time, the tech industry declined and many of the start-up investments that were deposited in SVB evaporated. While the Treasury appears to have taken emergency actions to shore up the banking industry, I am against any future congressionally-approved bailouts that may be considered that rescue woke, millionaire bank CEOs who have profited wildly while mismanaging their banks.
