116th Congress begins...

We are just a week into the 116th Congress and Democrats have made their agenda clear. One of the first bills Democrats introduced on the House floor denied funding to secure our border, increased spending on abortions overseas, and made it easier to raise taxes. This type of legislation does not put the priorities and safety of the American people first, and therefore I strongly opposed it. Republicans and President Trump have made their stance clear -- we must pass a spending bill that includes non-restricted funding for our southern border wall to secure our homes, our family and our people.

Oath Of Office

This week, I was honored to join my colleagues in the 116th  Congress in taking the oath of office. I will continue to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I would like to encourage my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to uphold our oath and stop playing politics with our country's security, put Americans first and secure our border from foreign threats. 

Jobs Report Exceeds Expectations

The latest jobs report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics surpassed expectations and reinforced that the American economy remains strong. U.S. employers added 312,000 jobs in December, which was above expectations. The report also detailed that the average hourly pay for American workers increased last year by 3.2%. This strong jobs report is due to pro-growth policies implemented by Republican leadership, and for which I voted.

Buy A Brick, Build A Wall

Millions of Americans have put their money where their mouth is and have donated their hard-earned money to a border wall GoFundMe page founded by a triple-amputee Veteran, Brian Kolfage. This donation page is just thousands of dollars away from reaching $20 million. In order to ensure that this type of effort does not go to waste, I co-sponsored legislation that directs the U.S. treasury to establish a fund allowing private contributions to build and maintain border walls.
