This Week with Gosar
Gosar Reflects on One Year Anniversary of Dobbs Decision
One year ago this weekend, the Supreme Court rightfully overturned the egregiously immoral and unconstitutional Roe v. Wade, no doubt saving countless innocent babies from being murdered. As I noted in my press release then, the repudiation by the highest court of the land was a long overdue correction of an injustice that has led to over 62 million American babies slaughtered, more that the total deaths caused by World War II. The decision gives states the power to make their own laws on abortion.
The fight to save precious lives doesn’t stop with the Supreme Court’s decision last year. In fact, democrats continue to push for zero restrictions on abortion, including allowing taxpayer dollars to be used for abortions and utilizing our tax code to incentivize abortion services. In response, this week I cosponsored H.R. 106, the Abortion is Not Health Care Act. This legislation prohibits abortions from being written off for deduction as medical expenses. All life is precious and allowing taxpayer dollars to be used to subsidize the killing of an innocent life is barbaric.
This week I also cosponsored the Dignity for Aborted Children Act. This legislation requires abortion providers to handle the remains of unborn children with the same level of dignity afforded to any other human being rather than be disposed of as medical waste.
Biden’s Border Invasion Continues: 204,000 Illegals Cross Border in May
Earlier this week, the Biden regime released new data showing 204,561 illegal aliens crossed the southern border in May making it 27 straight months that more than 150,000 lawbreakers crossed the southern border. Seven million illegals have now poured into our country thanks to Biden’s reckless open border policies, including 125 on the terrorist watch list this fiscal year. Another 17,000 pounds of fentanyl have been seized by border officials this fiscal year. Countless more makes its way into every state across the country, destroying families and communities. Mr. Biden’s reckless open border policies continue to be an open invitation to criminals and drug cartels to cross into our country unchecked.
How many illegal aliens are in the U.S. right now? Credible estimates prior to 2021 pegged the number of illegal aliens in our country at around 30 million. Some estimated as high as 40 million. Of course, for the past 30 years the left has used the estimate of “11 million.” It is obviously not correct and designed to lower the actual number since even the left knows millions of illegal aliens is not a popular idea.
Schiff Censured for Lying and Inappropriate Conduct
This week, I joined my colleagues in voting to censure California Representative Adam Schiff for his never-ending lies to the American people and abusing his position on the House Intelligence Committee to spread false accusations and fraudulently accuse President Trump of colluding with Russia that, as made clear from the Special Counsel Robert Mueller, never occurred. Representative Schiff’s hatred for President Trump is far greater than his love for America. He abused his position on the House Intelligence Committee to lie in his blind pursuit of President Trump. Our nation cannot allow an individual of such low character to go unchecked.
When a member of Congress engages in a pattern and practice of using official resources, including committee staff, to repeatedly lie to the American public and cause the government to spend millions of dollars to conduct a knowingly fraudulent investigation, this misconduct and pathology needs to be addressed. This is the appropriate use of the censure process. Politics played no role in this censure; it was 100% based on the numerous violations of ethics, process and misuse of his position in Congress.
Gosar Defunds Taxpayer-funded Chemical Castration and Sex Changes of Minors
A few months ago, I sent a letter to House Appropriators demanding that no taxpayer dollars be used to fund sex change surgeries on minors. This is nothing less than mutilation. Prescribing puberty suppressors and cross-sex hormones in a misguided, evil attempt to change genders is nothing less than chemical castration. Doctors who engage in these acts are participating in child abuse. Furthermore, it is unconscionable that taxpayers are forced to pay for these assaults against human dignity when they are utilized by adults. This week, the House Appropriations Committee released their Fiscal Year 2024 bill and I am pleased to report that my language preventing taxpayer funding for these gruesome practices is included in the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill.
Specifcally, page 196, section 757 of the bill states:
“None of the funds made available by this Act or any other Act may be provided for insurance plans in the Federal Employees Health Benefits program to cover the cost of surgical procedures or puberty blockers or hormone therapy for the purpose of gender affirming care.”
James O'Keefe Undercover Investigation Has World's Largest Fund Manager Urging More War: "It's Good for Business"
Former Project Veritas CEO James O'Keefe has released a new investigative report through his new operation, OMG Media. In the latest sting, an undercover reporter captures a despicable Black Rock employee bragging that the Ukraine war is "good for business" and how his $20 trillion hedge fund doesn't want the conflict to ever end. This callous and inhumane view ignores the death of hundreds of thousands of young men and millions of families displaced. The humanitarian crises created there is tragic. The same company representative brags that they can "buy" U.S. senators. Perhaps Sen. Graham's comments about seeking more war in Ukraine and his bloodlust for war makes more sense in this light. I continue to work for peace and pray for an end to the conflict. Not one more penny in aid or arms should be sent to the corrupt regime in Ukraine, a regime comprised of active-duty Nazis and people bent of war and destruction.
An Update on the Ukraine War
Well speaking of Ukraine: this week was a roller coaster. Ukraine itself started a massive counter-offensive against Russian troops. It did not go well for Ukraine, and they lost massive amounts of military equipment and thousands of troops. In some areas, it was described as a slaughter.
I continue to pray for peace between Russia and Ukraine. The death of their young men, and displacement of their peoples, is a humanitarian catastrophe. Our government should be urging and facilitating peace. Instead, the neo-cons running the state department and the DOD want war, and more war, and more death. I protest this use of our taxpayer money. Our military and our equipment is for our defense of our borders.
Update: in the last couple days, the leader of a private military contractor (the group is called the PMC Wagner) decided he was frustrated with several generals within the Russian Military Defense agency and essentially started an armed rebellion. He took thousands of troops and started to march on Moscow. The country of Belarus negotiated an agreement and the PMC Wagner are now leaving Russia. Presumably President Putin fired or removed the generals that angered this guy so much. Gen. Milley, pay attention to this: bad generals can be removed. With luck, Biden will fire Milley, but it may take a new president to remove the most incompetent general our country has known.
Major Loss for Rule of Law in Supreme Court Decision
The Supreme Court just handed down a major loss for the citizens of this country. The case is United States v. Texas. Over a dozen states sued the Department of Homeland Security to enforce the laws on the border, and to arrest and deport illegal alien criminals. The states correctly noted the crime, drugs, drug poisoning, sex trafficking and social chaos created by our open borders.
The Court was unmoved and held that the courts cannot order the executive branch to uphold the rule of law. In an insult to every citizen, the Court ruled that citizens, and their states, have no “standing” to even seek legal remedies. In other words, the Court is just fine with our open borders, and the lack of execution of our laws on the border. The conclusion from the Court reads:
“The States essentially want the Federal Judiciary to order the Executive Branch to alter its arrest policy so as to make more arrests. But this Court has long held “that a citizen lacks standing to contest the policies of the prosecuting authority when he himself is neither prosecuted nor threatened with prosecution.” Consistent with that fundamental Article III principle, we conclude that the States lack Article III standing to bring this suit.”
The Situation in Libya is not an Emergency in the U.S.
Last week I shared that I dropped a House Resolution to terminate the national emergency order regarding Libya. You may not be aware that President Obama declared a national emergency in Libya after he pulverized the country, killed its leadership and provided arms and support to insurrectionists. News reports noted:
“Oil-rich Libya plunged into chaos after a NATO-backed uprising toppled and killed longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi in 2011. In the chaos that followed, the county split with the rival administrations in the east and west backed by rogue militias and foreign governments.”
The U.S. State Department, under Mr. Obama and Hillary Clinton, engaged in regime change in Libya, without a vote from Congress, and they used our money and military supplies to destroy this country. You may ask yourself why? The answer is elusive. Basically, they wanted to. For some reason they hated its leader and wanted to kill him and his countrymen, and they in fact did that.
Fast forward to today, and I aim to start the reconciliation process. My resolution will terminate the national emergency order regarding Libya. It is this order that allowed Obama and Clinton send money and arms to radical militias. It is this order that Obama used to authorize drone strikes in Libya, killing civilians. Should Obama return the ill-gotten Nobel Peace Prize, by the way?
I hope my resolution passes and we can get America out of Libya and let the Libyans rebuild their country on their own terms. We have no business there now, or in 2011.
It’s Mail Time!
I receive thousands of letters every month and I appreciate hearing from everyone. I try my best to respond to each letter I receive. Here’s a small sample of the letters I received just this week:
Bill A. from Fort Mohave shares his thoughts on the banning gas stoves:
Sir, I am pleased that you stopped the stupid brouhaha over gas stoves. I would think the U.S. Congress has bigger problems than gas stoves.
Bill—you are 100% correct. Let’s put it this way, stopping the left from banning your right to own and use a gas stove or a back yard barbecue grill was not on my to do list this year. Congress would not have to take time to address nonsense like this if the Biden regime was not constantly attacking the people and forcing us to live like third-world serfs.
So this July 4th, and quite frankly everyday, fire up the barbecue. Crank your gas stove if you have one. And cook the best steaks, chicken, fajitas, or hamburgers you know how and enjoy life with your friends and family. And tell Brandon he is not invited. Only real Americans.
Bill continues:
I have read where three states, California, Arizona and Nevada, have come to an agreement regarding water use on the Colorado River.
I applaud this, but it has nothing to do with the problem of water shortage. I have studied the U.S. river system and running a major pipeline from one of the major rivers that flood every year (the Columbia, Arkansas, Missouri and Mississippi rivers) and pump water to the west.
We have plenty of water, it needs to be managed and directed where need it. THANK YOU FOR TRYING TO KEEP THE STUPID THINGS OUT OF CONGRESS. KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT.
Bill: Funny you mention this. I held a roundtable discussion in March at my conference center in Goodyear and we heard testimony from experts, and community members, about building a water pipeline, a desalination plant and even small modular reactors in order to transport water from areas in Texas, Louisiana, or Mexico, into Arizona and California. I also have an amendment that I will be submitting to add a congressionally authorized commission to study and plan for this exact project.
I have said this before and it is worth repeating: We cannot “conserve” our way out of the water shortage. We have Americans moving to Arizona every day because it is a great state. We have a large agricultural industry. We need more water, not less. We should not be talking about how to save a drop here and there. We need to think big and bring more water to Arizona—like our predecessors did when they built the Central Arizona Project.
Melanie L. Lake Havasu City isn’t a fan of Rep. Schiff and writes:
I cannot write Representative Anna Pauline Luna on her web site because I am not from her district so will you let her know that she is amazing for standing up to the democratic demons and all their naysaying to introduce the censure of Adam Schiff? Will you please thank the brave Republicans that voted for its passing, too? I wish the penalty would have passed, too. Democrats would have not thought twice about passing that penalty against their opponents. Did Nancy Pelosi really look at Rep. Luna and say "you look miserable. you look miserable"? This is the same lady that had her hair done during stringent COVID-19 lockdowns. I am not sure if she was remarking on Rep. Luna's look or countenance. I hope you can keep your health going through all of this. We need you.
Dear Melanie: I will pass on your good wishes and grateful comments to Rep. Luna. I consider her an ally and friend. I will also let my colleagues know of your appreciation at my next conference. And you have a better understanding of the realpolitik of D.C. than many Republicans. If the democrats could, they would expel the Republicans, jail us and run gulags with their political opponents as prisoners. We see this in the persecution of political prisoners from January 6. We saw this during the Covid pandemic where the leftists wanted everyone forced to take experimental drugs, jailed for taking a walk, and banned from work, hospitals and hotels. The democrats are not real Americans and are not working for a better country.
Casey B. from Fort Mohave writes:
As a gun owner and U.S. Army veteran, I appreciate your "Yes" vote on H.R. 44. Thank you for helping protect my constitutionally protected rights. I wish you and yours happiness and good health.
Casey—thank you brother! I’ve got your six in Congress. Thank you for your wishes, and likewise to you and your family.
Rita F. from Bullhead City shares:
Keep up the good work, Paul. Please work hard on our rights as Americans and keeping our party together. We need strong leadership in the Conservative party. We also need to stop being so "nice" and show Democrats that we are real and are tired of them stepping all over us. They "play the game" very well. It's time for us to play better!
Rita—Can I take you to D.C.? Some of my colleagues aren’t listening to me, perhaps Rita from Bullhead City will set ‘em straight? I could not agree more. The democrat leftists care about control and power. Laws, due process, fairness, integrity and merit mean nothing to them. They have been engaged in a 40-year campaign to destroy our families, our communities with crime and drugs and homelessness, our religion and faith in God, destroy babies, our young boys and girls with chemical castration and surgical mutilation, and destroy our institutions like schools. We are long overdue for a stern electoral correction.
While we seem to always disagree, I still appreciate hearing from Karen G., a frequent and vocal critic, who writes:
So much yap yap yap about illegal wide-open border - fentanyl, murderers, rapists. What is Gosar doing to help people addicted to drugs here? What about all the murders taking place by “law abiding gun toting Maga’s?” What about the rapists that are set free after short imprisonments - or those who get off because they were the president? Gosar: stop being a radical extremist and get to work by trying to make some compromises - that’s your job!
Karen—actually, I was not elected to “make some compromises.” The overwhelming majority of the voters want me to fight and stand up for what they believe in. Compromising is what Republicans have done for 60 years. It has left us with $32 trillion in debt, endless wars and destruction, crime riddled cities, open borders and over 100,000 dead Americans every year from fentanyl.
The death of our young people, Karen, is a devastating tragedy for the families. Families I have personally met with and sensed their loss and grief. It is not “yap yap yap” it is literally life and death. I was elected to save this country and I take that job seriously every day. The murders, rape, assault and decay you mention are due to the democrat policies you support. I pray you see the light and your cold heart changes.
