KEEPING OUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT
The swamp is at it again trying to put business as usual ahead of keeping Republican promises. Last Friday, the House was forced to vote to reauthorize the Farm Bill, despite the fact that we have four more months to reauthorize. We shouldn’t be in a rush to push through a farm bill without first addressing the pressing issues our agriculture community faces. Addressing the needs of the agriculture community means prioritizing immigration. It’s time to focus on doing what we said when the American people sent us here. I have not forgotten my promise and that’s why I voted no to the Farm Bill. I will continue to fight to ensure we find a solution to secure our border.

When I am back in the district I make a point to hold in-person town halls and office hours, but when I’m in Washington I want to make sure you can still reach me and talk directly to me about your concerns. On Wednesday, May 23rd at 6:00 PM AZ I will be holding a live Telephone Town Hall. During the call, we will be discussing a variety of issues, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions, share comments, vote in touch-tone polls, or just listen in.

SECURING OUR BORDER
This upcoming week, the House is scheduled to vote on the National Defense Authorization Act. Before the bill can come to the floor the House Rules Committee will consider over 500 amendments that were submitted last week. I’m proposing an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would allow the military to help build the wall to secure our border. Overall, the defense bill takes the crucial next steps to rebuilding our military and reforming the Pentagon.

U.S. SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATIONS
My office is accepting applications for nominations to four of the five U.S. service academies, West Point - The U.S. Military Academy, United States Naval Academy, US Air Force Academy (Official), and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). Deadline is October 31, 2018
