Hi, it’s Congressman Paul Gosar.
With summer in full swing, now is the perfect time to apply for a passport or, if you already have one, check to see if it may need renewing.
The process is simpler than you might think, if you give yourself enough time!
Here are the most common questions and answers about renewing:
Q: How can I renew my existing passport?
A: If you already have a passport that is not damaged, was issued in the past 15 years, was received after your 16th birthday, and has your same name, you can apply for a passport renewal by mail.
Q: I can't wait for the estimated four-to-six-week processing time for my application. Can I request expedited processing?
A: Yes. For an additional fee of $60, you can request expedited processing which can take up to two weeks. For more information on expediting processing, visit the Expedited Service Page atthe U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs Website.
Important note: Please be aware your passport should be valid for at least six months after your return date and have two or more blank pages, depending on your destination.
Also, you will need to complete this form if this is your first time applying for a passport. To ensure you have all forms and make the process as efficient as possible, click here.
