Day 19 of the Schumer-Gallego-Kelly Shutdown

Nineteen days have passed since Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, including Arizona Senators Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly, recklessly decided to shut the government down.  Democrats have made it abundantly clear they care more about appeasing their Marxist base than they care about the American people.

Let me remind you that more than three weeks ago, House Republicans passed a clean, continuing resolution to keep the government open.  In stark contrast, Senate Democrats have voted ten times against this measure (including three more times this week) thus shutting down the government.

Let me repeat: ten times Senate Democrats have now voted to keep hardworking Americans WITHOUT PAY and to put ILLEGALS OVER CITIZENS!

What is the impact of the shutdown so far?  I’m glad you asked. Thousands of federal employees, including law enforcement officers, are working unpaid. Veterans are unable to access key programs like funding for homeless veterans, services to help our military veterans transition to civilian life, the GI Bill hotline, and some burial services.  Farmers and ranchers who rely on critical U.S. Department of Agriculture programs can’t access them. Thousands of entrepreneurs are unable to access loans through the Small Business Administration. Americans looking to buy new homes have had their closings canceled because the National Flood Insurance Program has lapsed, preventing people from getting new policies. Travelers across the country are dealing with significant delays due to the lack of air traffic controllers.  Help lines at the Internal Revenue Service go unanswered.  Millions of families in need may soon lose access to programs like WIC and SNAP that help ensure they can feed their families. Housing programs may be jeopardized by HUD limiting its services. All this because Democrat Senators Chuck Schumer, Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly don’t give a damn about American families suffering because of their childish antics.

I will continue to point out that it has been 28 days since House Republicans passed legislation to keep the government open. In fact, Republicans have voted 13 times to pass clean funding bills while the Democrats had the majority the past four years with a Democrat in the White House. And not too long ago, Democrats have historically supported clean funding extensions to avoid a shutdown. Now

Democrats have manufactured a government shutdown to insist that taxpayer dollars fund welfare for illegal aliens. It’s really that simple.

Shocking Update: Yuma Illegal Border Crossings Essentially Stopped

I say "shocking" because none one is actually shocked.  Under the Biden regime, our tax dollars were used to help transport, welcome, feed, house and educate illegal aliens.  Billions of your dollars were spent encouraging this illegal entry.  Hundreds of thousands of criminals crossed the border in or near Yuma from 2021 to 2024.  According to Customs and Border Patrol, border crossings in Yuma have dropped by 99% in 2025, unmistakably demonstrating the difference between border chaos and criminality under Joe Biden versus law and order today under President Trump. 

It was recently reported that the Yuma sector averaged three people per day attempting to cross over a 126-mile border section.  From thousands of illegal aliens crossing the border each day for years, to just three is an amazing testament to President Trump's efforts, with the full support of my Republican colleagues and me in Congress. 

It was reported that Yuma sector border Chief Justin De La Torre pointed out that the "new policies" from the Trump Administration in Washington are causing the drastic drop in border crossings.  Of course, most of the "new" policies come down to enforcing decade’s old laws.  

In a story by ABC15, the section chief was quoted as saying "We are applying an immediate consequence, either expedited removal or a prosecution for illegal entry in the United States. The message is out, we're averaging three people a day arrested for our 126 miles of border," De La Torre said.

It was also noted that legal crossings and legal trade and commerce were going smoother than ever.   It's amazing, shocking even, how enforcing the law restores calm, peace and order. 

Another week, Another Indictment

First, it was James Comey indicted for making false statements to Congress, then Letitia James was indicted for bank fraud and this week former National Security Advisor John Bolton was indicted by a grand jury for improper handling of classified materials.  According to the 18-count indictment, from 2018 through 2025 Bolton abused his position by sharing thousands of pages of classified information with unauthorized individuals and retained classified documents in his home in direct violation of federal law.  The case goes back several years but Joe Biden conveniently shut down the investigation against Bolton, presumably so Bolton could help spread lies and vitriol against President Trump.  In fact, Bolton famously celebrated the 2022 Biden raid on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home over alleged improper storage of classified documents by bragging it was a “serious crime.”  Odd how the Fake News and the left championed the witch hunts against President Trump yet are absolutely aghast and in a state of panic over the prosecution of Comey, James and Bolton.  Not once did the media express outrage when Democrats weaponized the justice system against President Trump for years. Quite the opposite - it was perfectly fine to use every weaponized legal tactic to destroy Trump.  They weren’t seeking justice; they were hoping to ruin Trump with lawfare. For the record, this is not a Trump revenge tour as the left is claiming. Bolton, Comey and James are victims of their own actions.  The FAFO train is gaining steam.
