What's Happening On The Hill?

Supporting Our ICE Agents

I will go to the mat for ICE. The people who make up this agency work to protect our communities from criminal activities that put our families in danger. It is alarming that many of the people calling to abolish ICE are my Democratic colleagues. Last year,  ICE agents were responsible for seizing 2,379 pounds of fentanyl and 6,967 pounds of heroin. Say what you will about federal government agencies being inefficient, ICE is one agency showing real results. I proudly voted “yes” to H. Res. 990, which expresses support for the officers and personnel of ICE.

The House Committee on Natural Resources passed 10 bills relating to federal lands and water bills. Included in these 10 bills were two bills sponsored by me. The first bill, Cottonwood Land Exchange consolidates multiple checkerboards of land at the request of local stakeholders. The second bill, Environmental Compliance Cost Transparency Act requires federal agencies active in the wholesale power business to disclose the costs of environmental compliance to their customers. Right now,  drug cartels are sashaying across our unprotected border. In order to properly address the opioid situation, we need to secure our borders immediately.
