Goodyear, Arizona – Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-09) issued the following statement in response to sponsoring a resolution recognizing National Tire Safety Week:
“This week is National Tire Safety Week and it’s a good reminder to everyone traveling on our roads that regular tire safety maintenance is an important step to improving traffic safety.
As the summer travel season heats up, checking tire pressure at least monthly, regularly checking tire tread depth and ensuring vehicle tires are rotated and properly aligned are simple maintenance practices that can protect travelers and improve fuel efficiency.
Tires play an essential role in road and highway safety and I am pleased to cosponsor this important resolution designating this week as National Tire Safety Week to keep my constituents safe on the road,” concluded Congressman Gosar.
Background:
National Tire Safety Weeks runs from June 26-July 2, 2023. The initiative is intended to educate consumers, motorists and fleets about tire care, safety and maintenance. According to the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association, the U.S. tire manufacturing industry bolsters the economy with well-paying jobs and makes mobility on roadways possible. In Arizona, the economic impact of tire manufacturing is responsible for more than 5,600 jobs and $376,000,000 in wages.
Congressman Gosar is a member of the Congressional Tire Caucus and recently visited the Goodyear Aircraft Tire Retreading facility in Kingman, Arizona. Arizona is home to Toyota, General Motors, Volvo, Chrysler and several other company testing grounds where tires and cars are road tested.
