POSTPONED: Social Security Roundtable Discussions
Unfortunately, the Biden administration refused to allow a representative from the Social Security Administration to participate in my upcoming Social Security Roundtables in Buckeye, Surprise, Kingman, and Lake Havasu City. As a result, I will be rescheduling these events for a future date.
I deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
If you need immediate assistance with the Social Security Administration, please contact my District Director, Penny Pew, at penny.pew@mail.house.gov.
Breaking News: 227,547 Illegal Aliens Crossed the Border in September
Hoping no one would notice, the Biden administration announced late Friday night that 227,547 lawbreakers crossed the southern border last month. This is the largest number of illegals to ever cross the border for September EVER. In the past 12 months, 2.4 million have crossed the border. To put that into perspective, that is equivalent to the entire populations of Rhode Island, Vermont, North Dakota and Alaska combined!
It gets worse. Drugs are flowing over the border and crime is surging. Ninety-eight dangerous individuals on the terror watchlist have been caught entering the United States in the last year. We may never know how many more have not been caught. More than 1800 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 10,612 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the border last month, much more makes its way on the streets of our communities. Right here in Arizona, two convicted felons arrested for lewd acts with a child under 14 years of age were once again arrested crossing the border last month.
The Biden administration continues to deny the reality of the crisis and Biden’s policies further open America’s borders to drugs, crime and chaos that are overwhelming our communities.
Simon Black, of Sovereign Man, writes the following, which is a necessary read for us to understand just how harmful the democrats have been to our military and our country:
"Superpowers have a life cycle. They rise, peak, and decline. And at some point during the decline, the military begins to show signs of weakness.
Often times there’s some specific event-- something happens that’s so humiliating to the superpower that it shocks the world.
This is what happened to the Persians in 490 BC. And it’s what happened to the United States in 2021.
As a West Point graduate and U.S. Army veteran, I still hold in my heart that the U.S. military is the finest fighting force on the planet.
But facts are facts, and the U.S. military is showing clear signs of decline. Most of it is due to incomprehensible failures of leadership. [Edit: I have pointed out the ridiculous and traitorous actions by Gen. Mark Milley that have caused much harm to our military]
I reference a brand new report by the Heritage Foundation, its 2023 Index of US Military Strength, which provides an extremely honest (and distressing) analysis of the US military’s capabilities, capacity, and readiness.
The report spells out in nearly 600 pages of painstaking detail how the U.S. military is rapidly losing (or has already lost) its technological advantages. It shows how there are not enough forces to defend American interests against a major adversary like China. And most importantly, the report concludes that the military is simply not ready.
These conclusions have far-reaching implications.
History has shown over and over again that once a superpower’s veneer of invincibility is pierced, it rapidly loses its status. And that’s even more true when another competing power is on the rise."
Gosar Honors Veterans
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is recognizing the heroes who defend our freedoms. This week, I had the privilege to attend the Veterans Treatment Court Graduation in Lake Havasu City. Sadly, one in five veterans have symptoms of a mental health disorder or cognitive impairment caused from combat service. Veterans Treatment Centers address the treatment needs of justice-involved veterans by providing a dignified and important alternative to traditional criminal processing. I am very proud of these veterans and their families!
Also this weekend, I had the privilege to attend the Lake Havasu City Stand Down to honor veterans in my district and help provide them the resources to get them back on their feet while helping to renew their spirit, health and overall sense of well-being. Thank you for your service, and God bless.
Team Gosar Welcomes Popeye’s Louisiana Chicken to Prescott
My staff recently had the opportunity to join representatives from the Prescott City Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting event welcoming Popeyes Louisiana Chicken to Prescott! I can’t wait to have some delicious chicken!
Team Gosar Honors Prescott Business and Community Leaders
Earlier this week, members of my staff had the honor to present a Congressional Recognition of Achievement to deserving recipients at The Prescott Chamber Business Awards and PAYP Visionary Awards Ceremony.
This spectacular event celebrates the area's visionary entrepreneurs, business and civic leaders, and exemplary corporate citizens who are nominated by everyday people and voted in the event by a designated committee. The area's top-level business leaders attend this formal breakfast awards ceremony. Congratulations to all the recipients!
It's Mail Time!
You know I love hearing from you and I do my best to respond to every letter I receive. Here’s a sampling of some letters I received this week:
Kathy L. shared her thoughts on Social Security:
I may not be in your district but I am a recipient of Social Security. My husband should be getting Social Security as well but because I am disabled, he still has to work 2 jobs so we can afford the higher prices for food, rent, etc. I do not have taxes withheld from my Social Security and this year, for the first time in the 15 years I have been receiving either Disability or regular Social Security, we had to PAY over $900 in Federal taxes! This is money that could have been spent towards medical debt, or keeping the van going, or rent.
As seniors, we have put more than our fair share year after year while we were (or still are) working. I don't know who approved taxing what was meant to be a help for senior citizens and disabled folk, but this needs to stop. It is hard enough to stay healthy, stay in a home or apartment, keep food on the table. Seniors should not have to keep working when they should be able to take it easy.
I hope that you are successful in stopping the taxing the Social Security of senior citizens. It would help tremendously. Additionally, increasing the line that specifies the "poverty level" should be raised considering what inflation has done to those limits. And most importantly, making Congress PAY BACK all the money that has been "borrowed" over the years from the Social Security Trust funds - with interest - would help the fund be viable for years to come.
Dear Kathy, I have a bill in congress to eliminate taxes on social security benefits and am working on another a bill to eliminate the cap on outside income for social security recipients. If passed, this will provide substantial economic relief to social security recipients. In my view, our efforts should focus on those who have worked hard their entire lives, paid their taxes and honored their country. I will keep you posted and thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Thomas W. from Prescott Valley writes:
The CDC has shown their hand by voting to include the Covid19 "vaccine" in with the other childhood vaccines required to be able to attend public schools. The CDC is on the path to sterilize children so as to eliminate American people from the earth. When the Republican party takes over Congress in January, I hope you plan on defunding the CDC as one of your first votes. And investigate the heads of the CDC for crimes against humanity. Thanks for all you do, Doctor.
Dear Thomas, not only are COVID-19 vaccines unnecessary for children, as immunity wears off very quickly requiring endless boosters, they are dangerous and potentially lethal. The technology used in this vaccine is totally new. It is not fully tested and should never have been forced into our bodies. I will go further. The taking of this dangerous vaccine should never have been encouraged in the first place and certainly the CDC should not be mandating it as a prerequisite for children attending school.
Gail G from Florence, AZ makes a good point:
First off THANK YOU for the great job you do. To bad we don't have more like you.
I had an appointment with the VA and during the health questions I was asked what my gender was and they went thru the list. Told them it was none of VAs business. WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THIS TO BE ASKED OF A VET?????????
Dear Gail. Welcome to the new, woke military. I have continuously raised serious concerns about the competency of our military leadership in Washington, D.C. In particular, Goofy General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is perhaps the worst military leader our country has ever had. As a result, our enemies are emboldened as our military leaders showed cowardice and incompetence. But I do want to sincerely thank you for your service to our country. I you are having any problems with the VA and need help, please contact my District Director, Penny Pew at penny.pew@mail.house.gov.
