🍀Happy St. Patrick's Day!🍀
💰 Biden’s $7.3 Trillion Bloated Budget
This week, Joe Biden released details of his massive $7.3 trillion budget proposal, or nearly $2.5 trillion greater than President Trump’s last budget of $4.8 trillion.
Rather than cut wasteful spending and reduce the size and scope of the woke and weaponized federal government, Biden’s bloated budget, if enacted, would further bankrupt America. The plan calls for the largest tax hike in history - nearly $5 trillion, and amasses $16 trillion in deficits for the next decade, in piles on another $1.8 trillion to the national debt next year. In fact, If Biden's budget were adopted, the gross national debt would eclipse $52 trillion by 2034.
Biden also proposes wasting, err I mean, “spending” another $61 billion to fund the proxy war in Ukraine. Yet here at home, the budget proposal fails to secure the southern border and maintains Biden’s open border policies, including catch and release.
As a result of Biden’s tax and spending spree, Americans are reeling from the effects of historically high inflation. Americans expect House Republicans to be the adults in the room and lead our country back toward greater prosperity for all. It’s not going to happen by raising taxes and spending more of your money.
Gosar Requests Congress Include RECA Reauthorization in FY2024 Budget
Since first elected to Congress, I have been tirelessly fighting for the federal government to recognize the communities of Mohave County, Arizona were mistakenly excluded from the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.
Back up: From 1945 to 1962, the federal government conducted nearly 200 atmospheric weapons development tests as part of the Cold War security strategy of the United States, during an era when hostile foreign governments were also engaged in nuclear weapons testing and proliferation. Such tests exposed thousands of innocent Americans to cancer-causing ionized radiation from nuclear fallout.
When the injuries resulting from such exposures were discovered, Congress enacted the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act of 1990 to establish a trust fund for partial restitution to individuals (commonly referred to as ‘‘Downwinders’’) who have contracted certain cancers and other serious diseases that may be directly attributed to the radiation exposure from the nuclear weapons testing.
Why was Mohave County excluded? In 2000, Congress amended RECA and added new counties to the affected area but in doing so, inadvertently eliminated a portion of Mohave County, Arizona, that is north of the Grand Canyon and that had been included in the original Radiation Exposure Compensation Act of 1990.
Congress and the Federal Government have a responsibility to provide compensation for all individuals who developed radiation-induced cancer from the tests. Eliminating Mohave County was the result of a drafting error in the statutory text and I have been fighting to correct this injustice.
This week, I sent a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson and House and Senate Appropriations leaders asking that legislation reauthorizing and expanding the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act to include downwinders in all of Arizona be included in the upcoming FY2024 appropriations package.
Residents of Mohave County, Arizona have been wrongfully excluded for years and should be first in line for compensation.

Military Continues to Push Wokeness
A few months ago, I shared in my newsletter that under the Biden administration, the Department of Defense’s curriculum and training has been infiltrated with woke ideology causing failing recruitment and retention rates. I also participated in a Congressional hearing in January on the risks of progressive ideologies in our military. The American military is a skilled fighting force built on competencies not elevated by woke policies. Increasingly however, the objective of our military force seems less about promoting the very best and more about being groomed and brainwashed.
You might be asking: how so, Congressman Gosar? Sadly, this week, multiple news reports note that the prestigious U.S. Military Academy at West Point will be removing its motto “Duty, Honor, Country.” Since 1898, this motto has appeared in West Point’s mission statement. Yes, it's true: West Point has gone woke and our enemies are watching, if not giggling while they continue to strengthen.
Our Service Academy students represent the very best and brightest. They will endure considerable challenges in their sacrifice to our nation. Their focus should not be compromised by woke policies; they deserve more from their leaders. I strongly urge the Academy to reverse this foolish decision and stop this woke nonsense.

📫 It’s Mail Time!
I received a bunch of letters in response to my request to Speaker Johnson urging that he include RECA reauthorization in the upcoming budget agreement. Here are samples of some of the letters sent in this week:
📨Sherrie H. from Prescott, AZ wrote in with this request:
I am an Arizona Downwinder Advocate. I have known and worked with you since 2014 when he was first elected to Congress. You have always been a staunch supporter of the Downwinders, and it has been my privilege to work with you on this extremely important cause. I have met you several years ago but don't know if you remember me.
As I am sure you saw, last week Senator Hawley's Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) Reauthorization Bill S.3853 overwhelmingly passed the Senate 69-30. This gives us roughly an 80-day widow to get it through the House before RECA sunsets June 7th, 2024.
The quickest and easiest route to pass RECA Reauthorization is attaching it to the remaining FY24 appropriations bills that will soon move through Congress. Rep. Wagner is circulating the attached letter asking that Leadership do just that. Please add your office at the link below and Save RECA before it sunsets later this spring.
Sherrie – I do remember you! You’ve been a relentless advocate for Downwinders, and I am very grateful you reached out to me about signing onto the letter to Speaker Johnson. As I noted earlier in the newsletter, I was happy to sign onto the letter and have worked tirelessly to fix the error that excluded Downwinders from Mohave County from filing compensation claims with the Department of Justice. Congress has a moral responsibility to update RECA and should stop dragging its feet and immediately take it up. Thanks for your continued advocacy on this very important cause.
📨Leslie J. from Phoenix writes:
Thank you, Congressman for urging support of the RECA Act extension and funding. It is very important that this program be continued, as many of the people who are potentially impacted are still alive. My mother was a RECA recipient in 2008, following her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. She was born in Eagar and was teaching school up there when these tests took place. We filed on her behalf, and she received the RECA compensation, just as she was completing chemotherapy. She passed in 2009, but that funding allowed my father to pay off his home so he could remain there until he passed. She was just one of many in her Round Valley High School class who lost their battles with cancer, way too many of them. This is the right thing for the government to do.
Leslie – I completely agree: this is absolutely the right thing for the federal government to do. As you know, I take this issue very seriously, and have introduced several bills including H.R. 1751, the Downwinders Parity Act of 2023, that expands the compensation to areas that were affected by the radiation. I will fight to ensure downwinders are properly compensated for the abuse they endured by their own government.
📨Connie S. from Queen Valley, AZ fumes:
Regarding your comments about President Trump ordering up the National Guard to help in the insurrection on January 6th: please, if you are going to put information in your newsletter, at least get all the facts.
Connie, you want facts? You can’t handle the facts! You don’t want the facts because deep down in places, you don’t talk about the fact that I am right! So here are the facts:
There can no longer be any debate that Nancy Pelosi's sham January 6th Committee was, in fact, nothing more than a political witch-hunt designed to ignore the facts and evidence in a desperate attempt to damage Joe Biden's chief political opponent, President Donald Trump.
This week, the Committee on House Administration's Subcommittee on Oversight, released its "Initial Findings Report" on the events of January 6, 2021. This report shows how Pelosi's January 6th Committee was designed to promote a political narrative, deleted records and hid evidence, promoted a “star” witness’s testimony they knew to be false, and colluded with Fani Willis.
Connie, you want facts? Click HERE to read the report filled with facts.
Wait, let me summarize it for you:
- THE SELECT COMMITTEE WAS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE A POLITICAL NARRATIVE - Pelosi made the unprecedented decision to refuse to appoint minority members chosen by the minority to the Select Committee. They hired Hollywood producers to assist with their primetime hearings. They refused to adopt rules, allowing them to operate without limits, to project their predetermined narrative to the world.
- CHENEY WAS VICE CHAIR, A POSITION RESERVED FOR A DEMOCRAT - Cheney was not the minority ranking member but served as Vice Chair of the Select Committee—a position under House Rules for a member of the same party as the Chair. Pelosi appointed Cheney to the Select Committee as one of Pelosi’s eight majority appointments to the Select Committee. Former Select Committee staff members spoke out against Cheney’s insistence that the Select Committee focus on President Trump.
- THE SELECT COMMITTEE DELETED RECORDS AND HID EVIDENCE - Reps. Thompson and Cheney failed to turn over video recordings of witness interviews and depositions despite using these recordings in their high-profile, primetime hearings. The Subcommittee recovered over one hundred deleted or password-protected files, including some files that were deleted days before Republicans took the majority. They also hid multiple transcribed interviews of witnesses who had firsthand knowledge of Trump’s actions on January 6.
- THE SELECT COMMITTEE PROMOTED “STAR WITNESS” HUTCHINSON’S TESTIMONY - Reps. Thompson and Cheney promoted Cassidy Hutchinson’s sensational revised testimony and hid witness testimony from White House and Secret Service employees with firsthand knowledge that directly contradicted Hutchinson’s version of events. Hutchinson conducted three transcribed interviews with the Select Committee before substantially revising her story in her fourth transcribed interview. Despite knowing how significantly her testimony changed, the Select Committee promoted it as fact.
- HUTCHINSON’S SENSATIONAL STORY ABOUT TRUMP LUNGING AT STEERING WHEEL IN SUV AFTER SPEECH AT THE ELLIPSE WAS DIRECTLY REFUTED BY DRIVER OF THE SUV - Reps. Thompson and Cheney were aware that the Secret Service agent driving the SUV on January 6 directly refuted Hutchinson’s testimony. Despite this, they still included her testimony in the Final Report and insisted it was credible.
- THE SELECT COMMITTEE COLLUDED WITH FANI WILLIS - Fulton County District Attorney wrote to the Select Committee seeking assistance with her prosecution of President Trump. Select Committee staff met with representatives from her office.
