Gosar Introduces Resolution to Eliminate Unrelated Policies from Disaster Funding
This week, I joined Florida Congressman Byron Donalds in introducing the Clean Disaster Relief Resolution, legislation that stipulates any bill that appropriates funding for emergency assistance in response to major disasters, including wildfires, be a standalone bill and not combined with any other legislative measure.
Anyone who reads the Gosar Newsletter or has heard me speak knows that I often comment that good process makes for good policy and good politics. The ugly truth is that congress repeatedly loads up well-intended disaster relief funding legislation with flawed and costly provisions making it difficult for members of congress, including me, to support final passage. This resolution will allow members of congress to cast a clean vote on providing meaningful federal disaster relief without the inclusion of other ridiculous and unrelated legislative provisions. That’s what I call good policy!

Make Your Voices Heard: Lake Mead National Recreation Area Seeks Public Input
Lake Mead National Recreation Area seeks public input on new low water access plan and will be hosting public meetings the week of December 5 to explore management options on how to maintain launch ramp access for motorized recreational boaters to the lake and other visitor services amid record low water levels. The need for action is prompted by rapidly declining water levels at Lake Mead.
Meetings will be held at the following times and locations:
- Virtual – Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022; 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. PST
Comments regarding the planning concepts should be made online on the park’s planning website (https://parkplanning.nps.gov/LAKE-Low-Water-Access) where readers can find this and earlier planning efforts for review and consideration.
Justice is Finally Served, 42 Years Later
The brutal murderer who killed William Redmond and Helen Phelps in 1980 in their Phoenix home was finally executed. While I believe there are some heinous crimes, where to fulfill the demands of justice, the penalty of death is warranted, taking 42 years to execute a murderer is an insult and an injustice. There must be a way to process these cases in under five years.

Gosar Says Hell No to Woke ESG Investments in Retirement Plans
Environmental, Social and Governance criteria, better known as ESG, refers to the environmental, social and corporate governance factors that are taken into account when investing in a company. Simply stated, green activists and woke culture crusaders are using ESG policies to force companies to advance their insane gender, racial and environmental ideologies. For example, many companies are being coerced into educating their employees on critical race theory, supporting radical gender ideology or accepting pro-abortion polices to appear more socially conscious. Other companies are being forced to go green in order to save the planet and boost their environmental score. How pervasive is ESG in companies? Well, a recent study shows that 90% of the S&P 500 companies now adopt practices based on ESG policies. While I may disagree, if a private company decides to adopt ESG polices, that's its perogative. However, the federal government should NOT be enabling ESG policies. Unfortunately, earlier this year the federal retirement and saving plan, formally referred to as the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), began offering mutual funds that include leftist ESG funds.
TSP currently manages about $817 billion in total assets, making it the largest defined contribution plan in the world. The vast majority of TSP contributions are from federal employees or servicemembers and their respective agency matches. In other words, TSP is effectively allowing billions of taxpayer dollars to be used for ESG investing. I say Hell NO! Not on my watch!
In response, this week I cosponsored H.R. 7896, the No ESG at TSP Act. This important legislation would prohibit the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) from offering the ESG investment options that it recently began providing to participants.
