Poll Results: Arizonans Want Elections Free from Foreign Interference
Earlier this week I conducted a poll asking if you supported legislation that would restore trust in America's election system and prevent foreign election interference. My poll noted that Congress will soon vote on the SAVE Act, legislation requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote. The SAVE Act ensures only United States citizens vote in federal elections. The legislation offers more than six ways to verify identity, ensuring all Americans have access to their ballots and it would codify President Trump’s recent executive action to secure our voter registration process. Over 3,300 people participated in my poll and the results showed that 95% of respondents want me to vote for the SAVE Act to make sure our elections are secure by requiring proof of citizenship while 5% of respondents asked that I not vote for the SAVE act. Not surprisingly, the results of my poll are consistent with a recent poll conducted by Pew showing that 90% of Americans say it is very or somewhat important to stop non-citizens from voting. The fact is, with 13 million illegal aliens welcomed into our country by Joe Biden, voters are right to be concerned about the integrity of elections. Congress will vote on the SAVE Act next week and I appreciate hearing from everyone who responded to my poll.
Illegal Border Crossings Lowest Ever on Record
Speaking of illegal aliens this week, U.S. Border Patrol officials released new data showing that illegal crossings along the southern border reached a new low last month. In March, just 7,181 illegal immigrants were encountered at the border. By comparison for the same month, under Biden in 2024 137,473 illegals crossed the border, in 2023 163,672 illegals crossed the border and in 2022 a whopping 211,181 illegals crossed the border. According to the liberal Los Angeles Times, “Migrant crossings in California alone have slowed to a near halt” along the border where Border Patrol agents are making “just 30 to 40 arrests per day, down from more than 1,200 per day” during the height of Biden’s illegal alien invasion. If the border crossings stay at these levels, the US could see the number of illegal aliens hit a low not seen since 1968. President Trump is making good on his promise to secure the southern border and the numbers prove it.
President Trump Deports Over 100,000 Illegals in Two Months
More good news this week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials announced that they have arrested more than 113,000 and deported more than 100,000 illegal aliens, including terrorists, gang members, rapists and murderers, since President Trump took office just two months ago. Once again, President Trump is keeping his word that he would crack down on illegal immigration, secure the border and launch a mass deportation effort across our nation.
DOGE Exposes $380K Monthly Contract at Department of Veterans Affairs
More egregious waste was uncovered this week by DOGE, this time at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and this one really burns my britches. Turns out that the VA has been paying more than $380,000 per month to an outside contractor to make minor changes to the VA’s website. That’s more than $4.5 million in taxpayer money spent annually on website maintenance. Just imagine how many veterans could have been helped if that money was not wasted on a bogus contract. Thanks to DOGE, that contract was canceled, and the work is now being done internally by a software engineer at the VA, spending less than 10 hours a week.

It’s Mail Time!
📬I receive hundreds of letters each this week from folks concerned about the Social Security Administration’s proposed changes to customer service policy. Here is one such letter:

I am one of your constituents, and I am calling on you to reverse the proposed changes at Social Security that will cut certain phone services very soon. With almost no notice, and no public input, Social Security has decided to implement a new policy that will force older Americans to drive to a Social Security office to complete simple paperwork they have previously been able to do over the phone. This change will force many Americans – especially those in rural areas, with mobility challenges, or without internet access – to call Social Security, wait on hold for hours to make an appointment, or take time off work simply to access their hard-earned Social Security. This is completely unacceptable. I’m urging you to use your power to reverse this change that will undoubtedly create more confusion for older Americans. We earn Social Security throughout a lifetime of hard work — that money is ours and we deserve proper customer service. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. ✍ Dear Diana, there is a lot of misinformation being spread about the Trump Administration’s posture toward Social Security. I have received hundreds of letters from concerned citizens – recipients of Social Security, their family members, and others – who are understandably confused by the media misinformation. I want you to rest assured: Social Security is not going away. In fact, we are going to make it even stronger.
As you alluded to in your letter to me, Social Security Administration (SSA) Acting Commissioner Lee Dudek proposed a plan to combat fraudulent claims by limiting SSA’s phone services. Under the proposed reorganization, individuals applying for benefits or updating their bank deposit information could no longer do so by phone, and would have to verify their identity online or in person, according to the Daily Beast. In the wake of a robust campaign to push back against the proposed changes, Dudek issued the following statement: “We have listened to our customers, Congress, advocates, and others, and we are updating our policy to provide better customer service to the country’s most vulnerable populations.” Dudek clarified that applicants for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Medicare, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will be allowed to continue making applications by phone.
I am proud of the Trump Administration’s quick response to public feedback as well as their recognition of the impact that the proposed changes would have on our most vulnerable citizens’ ability to collect their Social Security benefits. Thanks to this policy adjustment, many injured, disabled, or elderly individuals will retain access to phone services, which they rely on, to make changes to how they receive their benefits. The goal of President Trump’s budget-slashing efforts is not to abolish our safety net, but to strengthen it by weeding out waste, fraud and abuse.
I have fought, and will always continue to fight, for the proper administration of Social Security and the right of our senior citizens to claim the benefits they were promised by our government. I look forward to working closely with the Trump Administration to ensure the solvency of Social Security while slashing instances of waste, fraud, and abuse that threaten the structural integrity of our most critical safety nets.
