Gosar Votes to Fund the Federal Government, Shut Down Averted
Did you hear the news? For a while, there was a chance that the federal government might have come to a screeching halt, but Senator Chuck Schumer blinked just in time to avert a shut down by supporting a Republican-drafted measure to continue funding the government through September.
Now, all those Senate Democrats and all those House Democrats who said they must shutdown the government to save America from Elon Musk and Donald Trump look pathetic and dishonest. This was nothing more than a political stunt and a total disaster by Democrats that backfired, deservedly so.
I will be candid, voting for the continuing resolution to fund the government goes against every bone in my body, but I am placing my trust in President Trump’s long-term commitment to getting our fiscal house in order. In fact, you may recall several months ago, I voted against the previous 1,600-page continuing resolution because it was filled with pork and chocked full of Democrat-woke priorities.
However, I listened to Donald Trump and JD Vance this week and I am confident in their ability to lead our country out of the debt crisis. The American people gave President Trump a mandate last November to fix these problems, and so this week I cast my vote to support the continuing resolution to give the president the tools and the time to do just that.
In contrast, Hakeem Jeffries, Chuck Schumer and their lapdogs in Congress were against the bill, then for the bill and now they’re all over the place. Sadly, Democrats once again put their hatred for President Trump above what’s best for America. Unable to win at the ballot box, the Democrats in Congress have no agenda. Instead, they wanted to shut down the government because, in their minds, they thought it could slow down Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress, including moving forward with the budget reconciliation that will cut taxes for all Americans, jump-start our economy and secure the border.
Rest assured, we aren’t slowing down, no matter what the Democrats try to pull. With the continuing resolution vote behind us, President Trump has the momentum and inertia to continue to carry out his agenda and follow through on his promises that were made last November.
Report: Inflation is Dropping
This week, new Consumer Price Index data for February showed that inflation came in at the lowest levels in four years, helping mortgage rates to also ease to their lowest level in months. This is fantastic news following four years of double-digit, record inflation during the Biden administration. In fact, under Biden's watch, grocery prices rose 23%, energy prices rose 34%, and shelter prices rose 25%. Worse, Biden's open border policies contributed to rising home prices and rent costs, which continue to hurt working families. In less than two months in office, President Trump’s economic policies are helping drive down costs and providing much-needed relief to countless Americans. For example, gasoline prices are down, and rent costs slowed to a new three-year low.
Egg Prices Fall Sharply
Speaking of inflation rates lowering, I have more “eggs-xelent” news: the United States Department of Agriculture announced this week that the cost of a dozen eggs has fallen nearly $2.00 following measures implemented by President Trump to boost domestic supply following the killing of more than 150 million chickens during Biden’s term in office that led to egg prices to skyrocket. In fact, the average cost of a dozen eggs was $1.46 when Biden first took office but surged to $4.50 a dozen by the time he was wheel-chaired out of office.
In response, a few weeks ago, President Donald J. Trump laid out a five-point plan to reduce egg prices and restore stability to the egg market. Thankfully, egg prices are falling fast, and President Trump deserves much of the credit.
One cautionary note: egg prices will likely increase around Easter as demand to color Easter eggs grows but the overall trend of their cost is downward.
Who’s in Charge of the Executive Branch--President Trump or Left-Wing Judges?
Under our Constitution, the President of the United States has executive powers to cut personnel and spending. Prior Presidents have used the executive powers routinely with little interference from the courts. Under the Vesting Clause (Article II, Section 1) of the Constitution: “The executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.” This clause establishes the President as the chief executive able to hire, fire and manage federal agencies.
Typically, the President can issue executive orders to direct federal agencies on hiring and firing policies, restructuring, or reassigning employees. Under the Reorganization Act of 1977, the President can propose agency mergers or eliminations.
The President has broad authority to fire political appointees but many career civil servants are protected by the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 and egregious union agreements enacted under far-left administrations like the Obama and Biden regimes.
President Trump has attempted to reclassify certain federal employees as “Schedule F,” making them easier to fire. This is where the courts are stepping in and blocking President Trump.
Two federal judges have issued injunctions against Trump's termination of probationary federal employees. On March 13, 2025, U.S. District Judge William Alsup ruled that the firings were unlawful and ordered reinstatement. Similarly, U.S. District Judge James Bredar mandated the reinstatement of employees from 18 agencies, citing improper legal procedures. This is an unprecedented court interference with the executive branch. Voters elected Trump overwhelmingly and gave him a mandate to reduce government waste. In contrast, no one elected these far-left activist judges.
The courts, staffed by Marxist judges who detest President Trump, have overstepped their judicial role. This will be sorted out in time. But Congress must act this year to give the President more authority to cut the waste and eliminate the massive fraud, corruption and money laundering DOGE has uncovered.
Guess Who Said It?
It’s time for another round of Guess Who Said It? Can you identify who said the following:
- Everyone knows that getting rid of the deficit will require some tough decisions. That includes cutting back on billions of dollars in programs that a lot of people care about. But what should be easy is getting rid of the pointless waste and stupid spending that doesn’t benefit anyone.
- George W. Bush.
- Joe Biden
- Barack Obama
- Donald Trump
- Not just eliminating fraud and waste, we hope to be instilling an entire new culture for not only our administration but every succeeding administration.
- George W. Bush
- Ronald Reagan
- Joe Biden
- Donald Trump
- The people don’t want a government that wastes money, a government that costs more and does less. They voted for change. They wanted a literal revolution in the way government operates and now I must deliver. Today, I call upon my cabinet to take the next step to begin the overhaul of the government as a whole. The steps we are taking today will save the taxpayers billions of dollars.
- Donald Trump
- Joe Biden
- George W. Bush
- Bill Clinton
Did you guess that Donald Trump made these comments? If so, you are wrong! The answers are: #1 – Barack Obama, #2 – Joe Biden, #3 – Bill Clinton. All three of these quotes by liberal Democrats were said to justify their use of executive authority.
It kind of makes all of them sound like Donald Trump and DOGE, don’t you think? The difference is that Donald Trump is making good on his promise to cut government waste while the comments made by Clinton, Obama and Biden were simply gibberish and political theater.
It’s Mail Time!
📬 I receive thousands of letters each week and I appreciate hearing from everyone. Here are a few letters I received this week:
📨 Gary F. from Kingman, AZ writes:
I’m sure everybody is now knowledgeable about the protest that are happening at the Trump towers. My opinion is that not only should they deport Mahmoud Khalil, but The Trump administration should also find every student that is here from another country on a visa that was involved with the pro Hamas rally be immediately deported. I and a lot of other Americans are tired of this Satanic-loving, Jewish-hating garbage.
✍ Dear Gary, as you know, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) apprehended Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia University graduate student and green card holder, for organizing activities aligned with Hamas, a designated terrorist organization. According to the State Department website, Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization since 1997.
I would argue that the deportation of Khalil carries out President Trump’s agenda to combat anti-Semitism. On January 29, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order titled, “Additional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism.” This order built upon a 2019 executive order drafted to address “an unprecedented wave of vile anti-Semitic discrimination, vandalism, and violence against our citizens, especially in our schools and on our campuses.” A January 30, 2025 White House fact sheet made President Trump’s policy clear: “To all the resident aliens who joined in the pro-jihadist protests, we put you on notice: come 2025 we will find you, and we will deport you. I will also quickly cancel the student visas of all Hamas sympathizers on college campuses, which have been infested with radicalism like never before.”
Khalil’s lawyers, in their petition for writ of habeas corpus, alleged that the arrest of Khalil and revocation of his green card constituted “open repression of student activism and political speech.” The fact is, State Department Secretary Rubio made it clear he has the right to revoke a green card or a visa from individuals who are "adversarial to the foreign policy and national security interests of the United States of America." Khalil, a noncitizen, “was given the privilege of coming to the United States to study at one of our nation’s finest universities … and he took advantage of that opportunity by siding with terrorists.”
I have always spoken out in defense of the free speech rights of American citizens. Under the Biden administration, American citizens were targeted for standing outside of abortion clinics, protesting the election results in 2020, and even posting memes. However, Khalil’s case is different. His status as a resident alien can be terminated at the State Secretary’s discretion if, according to the U.S. Code, the Secretary “has reasonable ground to believe” that the alien’s presence “would have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States.” Lawful permanent residence in the United States is a privilege, not a right. I do not support, nor will I ever endorse the dissemination of antisemitic literature by alien agitators like Khalil.
📨 Dwayne P. from Bullhead City, asks:
Why did you vote NAY for censuring Al Greene? I am a citizen of Bullhead City for over 30 years. I want to know why you voted NAY on censuring Al Greene? This country supports Donald Trump and if you don't think it was disrespectful for how Green conducted himself then that brings alot of questions to your own character. I will be making sure the people of Bullhead City, know about this. I am outraged.
✍ Dwayne, you are badly mistaken. I joined all Republicans in voting to censure Representative Al Green. You can see how I voted by clicking here. Just curious - where did you hear or read that I voted against this censure? What kind of fake news is getting spread in Bullhead City?
As you know, my colleague Al Green stood up in the middle of President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress and heckled the President. Representative Green later admitted that “[he] did disrupt. And [he] did so because the President indicated he had a mandate.” “I have to be candid,” Representative Green said. “I would do it again.”
Following Representative Green’s outburst, Speaker Johnson promptly called for the House Seargent at Arms to remove him. The Constitution grants the House broad power to discipline its Members. The President of the United States deserves respect, and the American People deserve Representatives who conduct themselves with dignity.
