Washington, D.C. - Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-09) issued the following statement after attending a Joint Meeting of Congress welcoming Israeli President Isaac Herzog:
“It was an honor and privilege to welcome President Herzog to Congress and hear his vision reaffirming and reinforcing the alliance between our two great nations.
Israel is America’s greatest friend and closest ally in the Middle East. Since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, both countries have shown unwavering support in our united goal in defense of our shared values, freedoms and peace. This relationship has transcended political affiliations and has remained a pillar of U.S. – Israeli foreign policy and diplomacy.
As our strongest ally in the Middle East, it is in the vital interest of the United States to stand together with Israel against a rising tide of extremism. President Herzog pointed out the growing antisemitism, including people who consider Israel an “apartheid state” or a “racist nation” which resulted in a recent rebuke in Congress of a Representative who has engaged in virulent antisemitism. Our two nations must show the courage necessary to thwart existential threats to Israel and to make the hard choices necessary to ensure peace.
I will always stand with Israel and I am grateful to President Herzog for addressing Congress,” concluded Congressman Gosar.
