Congressman Gosar Votes To Address Sequestration and
Protect Vital Services for Men and Women of the Armed Services
Bill Contains Nearly $333 Billion in Long Term Cuts
WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar, D.D.S (R-AZ) issued the following statement today about his vote to end sequestration.
“I remain exasperated by the failure of the ‘Super Committee’ and like many throughout Arizona and our nation I fear that without immediate action there would have been unacceptable cuts to our armed services. This is why I supported today’s bill which not only averts a $500 billion cut which would threaten our national defense and put those serving our nation at risk.”
Gosar went on to say, “In addition to addressing the looming cuts to defense, this bill makes important reforms, fixes egregious loopholes, and cuts slush funds for government bureaucrats. This bill also ends the bailouts that Americans are crying out to Washington to stamp out. We have a lot more work to do when it comes to balancing our budget, but this bill makes important spending reforms without compromising our national security and letting down our troops.”
Included in today’s bill are reductions of over $236 billion in wasteful spending as well as recommendations which would raise $97 billion in additional revenue. These adjustments over ten years are a net deficit reduction of $333 billion.
