WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) issued the following statement after introducing the Criminal Alien Removal Clarification Act, legislation that would ensure non-citizens, convicted of a felony or two or more misdemeanors, can be removed from the United States.
“This common-sense legislation would make any alien who has committed a felony or two misdemeanors deportable. Current law only includes certain felonies and some crimes.
Today, more than ever, we must do everything possible to close loopholes in laws that allow criminal activity to occur without consequences. My legislation gives codified guidance to the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to remove non-citizens who break our laws,” Gosar said.
“The Biden administration’s open-borders policy is inviting violent criminals into the U.S. I’m grateful that Congressman Gosar is introducing the Criminal Alien Removal Clarification Act in the House to help deport dangerous criminals who are putting American communities at risk every day,” stated Senator John Kennedy.
"NumbersUSA is pleased to support Congressman Gosar’s Criminal Alien Removal Clarification Act. Convicted criminal aliens should be removed from our country so they can no longer victimize Americans or legal immigrants. This bill would make our neighborhoods safer,” said Rosemary Jenks, Director, Government Relations, NumbersUSA.
“President Biden, Secretary Mayorkas, and Democrats on Capitol Hill have one objective on our issue – a borderless nation with virtually no enforcement of immigration laws, including the deportation of criminals. Congressman Gosar and Senator Kennedy are trying to do the opposite. Their bill is a reasonable solution that would keep American communities safe. We’re proud to support it,” added RJ Hauman, Government Relations Director, Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).
“The America First Policy Institute supports Rep. Paul Gosar’s efforts to protect American citizens and communities by clarifying the conditions under which criminal aliens can be removed from the United States. Current statutory language is unnecessarily complicated and has provided federal judges with the ability to create truck-sized loopholes in the executive branch’s ability to enforce federal immigration law, the net result of which is criminal aliens remaining free on our soil and hurting Americans. This straightforward proposal is an important first step toward restoring our national security and public safety,” added John A. Zadrozny, Director for the Center for Homeland Security and Immigration, America First Policy Institute (AFPI).
