PRESCOTT, AZ - BIDEN HAS FAILED AMERICA
|
The tragic loss of life of 13 American soldiers as well as dozens of others injured in Afghanistan this week was both heartbreaking and needless. Maude and I mourn their lives lost and pray for their families. May God comfort them during this time of great need and sorrow. I am incredibly grateful for their selfless acts of courage and service to our country.

While questions concerning the details of the attack remain, one fact is clear: the deaths of these soldiers are the direct result of Mr. Biden’s disastrous method of withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. This was wholly preventable. Mr. Biden’s decision to pull American soldiers out before evacuating American citizens and equipment has sadly led to the predictable loss of American lives. This what always happens when the Left gets power. People die. Economies stagnate. Prosperity wanes. The reckless manner this withdrawal was undertaken is nothing short of gross negligence and pure incompetence, and it has resulted in the panic and now death of our soldiers. Putting America last. Instead of rescuing Americans, Mr. Biden has been illegally flying tens of thousands of Afghans into our country. Congress has not authorized this massive illegal immigration airlift. They have not been adequately vetted nor have they been tested for COVID-19. Sadly, we will likely face terrorist events in our country because of Mr. Biden’s illegal and immoral transport of illegal aliens into our country. Countless more American citizens remain stranded. Their lives are in grave danger. We cannot have any more loss of American life.
Mr. Biden has demonstrated an incredible dereliction of duty in Afghanistan. I supported President Trump and Mr. Biden’s decision to get American troops out of the failed 20-year war in Afghanistan. I also supported the Trump withdrawal plan, which was orderly, logical and would have resulted in no deaths, no loss of military equipment and would not have brought shame to our nation before the world.

Biden has brought shame to our nation.

Biden rejected the Trump plan, a plan that was vetted and approved by everyone in the region and would not have abandoned our people and equipment there. Mr. Biden’s failure to get Americans out of Afghanistan in an orderly and safe manner is unconscionable. As a result, this week’s attack is the deadliest day in Afghanistan in over a decade. Mr. Biden has recklessly ignored his duty as Commander in Chief and has gravely failed the America people. Even before this tragic week, our country has been on a downward decline. Under Joe Biden, we have strayed even further from the Constitution, security and humanitarian crises have erupted, and the economy has plummeted. Mr. Biden has neglected his Constitutionally mandated duties and trampled on the other branches of government.
Mr. Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has willfully ignored immigration laws, spiraling into the loss of control of our southern border. Two million illegal alien invaders are expected this year. Mr. Biden’s mishandling of the border has triggered a humanitarian and public safety crisis. He also violated the law by releasing illegal aliens into the country and terminated the Migrant Protection Protocols which helped legally process claims. Our executive branch of government must be held accountable for such a flagrant violation of the law, which has impacted communities in Arizona’s Fourth Congressional District and across the nation. Through his unconstitutional extension of the Center for Disease and Control’s eviction moratorium Mr. Biden has shown contempt for Congressional authority and judicial authority. The federal government has no right to your private residence. Moreover, Congress has not passed any eviction moratorium laws and the Supreme Court confirmed this was an abuse of power. However, Mr. Biden ignored this and in doing so, infringed on Congress and the Supreme Court.

For these reasons, I joined Congresswomen Marjorie Taylor Greene and Mary Miller on three impeachment resolutions against Joe Biden. His incompetence, corruption and violation of his oath of office to execute our laws faithfully requires his removal from office. While he remains in office, our country is at serious risk.

This week, I sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken in response to reports that the Biden administration dissolved the Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau (CCR), a unit within the Department of State tasked with rapidly evacuating Americans who came into harm’s way while overseas. Can someone in this administration please explain to me how—just as the Taliban was beginning its march across Afghanistan—Mr. Biden shockingly decided it was wise to cancel a program designed to provide logistics, medical and airlift support to protect American’s overseas in connection with evacuation efforts? Now, American soldiers are dead or injured and countless Americans remain trapped behind enemy lines, stranded in Afghanistan and Mr. Biden cannot guarantee their safe withdrawal. Because he cancelled the program that could have saved them. The CCR was designed to prevent this very catastrophe from occurring. Cancelling this program at a time when the Biden administration should have been finalizing well thought out plans to remove our citizens from Afghanistan is, to be perfectly blunt, idiotic. This combined with Mr. Biden’s disastrous troop withdrawal in Afghanistan leaves no question that Mr. Biden is not fit to hold the highest office in land and should be impeached. Click here to read a copy of the letter I sent to Secretary Blinken.

For two decades, nearly $90 million of American taxpayers’ money was spent on Afghanistan mineral exploration and mapping through the United States Geologic Survey (USGS).
Put another way, American taxpayers paid for the detailed finding and mapping of where valuable minerals are in Afghanistan.
This survey and mapping revealed that Afghanistan sits on more than a trillion dollars in critical minerals, from copper, gold, and silver to lithium and critical rare earth elements. Now those resources are falling into the hands of the Taliban regime, and we cannot allow the development of those resources to enrich terrorists. The USGS work was to support the diversification of the Afghan economy and the people of a peaceful Afghanistan, not enrich the Taliban. Even worse, the Taliban will outsource the mining to China. All of our work and all that money is now going to benefit China, not us. In response, I introduced H.R. 5088 the Stopping Terrorists Minerals Trade Act which would prohibit minerals or products made with minerals from Afghanistan from being imported to the United States and would require clear documentation by any importer from countries that do business with Afghanistan.

As Biden officials battle the clock to locate and extract all Americans in Afghanistan, Biden continues to fail the people on the ground and is providing very few, if any, answers. The current state of Afghanistan is a national security crisis. It is a humanitarian crisis. And it is a crisis of leadership. The American people deserve answers on the safety of our citizens, the status of taxpayer funded military equipment, and plans to delink our country from Afghanistan as much as possible. The House Oversight Committee on which I serve has a responsibility to conduct oversight of Afghanistan, including Biden’s decision making over the past eight months. Yet, Democrats who control the committee have announced no plans to conduct hearings on the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan. That is why my Republican colleagues and I called on Congressional Democrats to hold a hearing with Biden officials to do one simple thing– get answers. I renew my call in the wake of the horrific terrorist attack and implore Democrats to stop abdicating their legally mandated authority to protect Americans. To not schedule a hearing is a dereliction of duty and congressional responsibility.

Last week, members of travelling board for the Veterans Board of Appeals were in Arizona. I have concerns with the Board’s work over the last few years, in particular the decreasing number of Arizona boards. In my effort to conduct oversight of these government entities and ensure they are working for my constituents, I am interested in hearing from you about your experience. If you are a veteran working with the Veterans Board of Appeals and are willing to share your experience, I am seeking information on who was notified about the travel board in Arizona last week and how many veterans in our district have pending appeals before the Board. If you are willing to answer, you can send an email to AZ04.Requests@mail.house.gov or give anyone of my offices a call and speak with one of my team members.

This week, I introduced the “Laughlin/Bullhead Airport Land Conveyance Act,” legislation that would transfer approximately 10 acres of land from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to Mohave County for the Mohave County Airport Authority’s use of operating the airport and providing related services. More than half of this parcel of land sits inside the airport security fence and should have been transferred to the county 30 years ago when the airport was founded. It only makes sense that the airport own and control this property. Click here to read a copy of this important legislation for Mohave County.

Chemical abortions facilitated through the mail, known as teleabortions, are a rising concern in the fight for life. I have written to you previously on action I have taken to combat the production and dissemination of chemical abortion pills but remain concerned about the threat to mothers and unborn children. I cosponsored the Teleabortion Prevention Act of 2021 which prohibits chemical abortions that take place without a health care provider present to effectively terminate the ability to ship these abortion products. In a win for small government and private property rights, the Supreme Court recently terminated the Center for Disease Control’s eviction moratorium. However, it was a dicey road getting there, especially when Mr. Biden announced he would extend the order, acknowledging as he did that it was unconstitutional. I remain committed to fighting this unchecked executive power grab, which is why I joined my colleagues in a letter to Mr. Biden and the CDC demanding answers on where their authority comes from to take such an action. I applaud the Supreme Court for preserving the Constitution but remain vigilant for any attempt to infringe on American’s property and income rights.
