Western Caucus Repeals WOTUS
This week, the House passed H.R. 6147 which included the Interior and Environment Approps Act for fiscal year 2019. The bill contains numerous Caucus' priorities:
- Repealing WOTUS.
- Delisting gray wolves range-wide.
- $500 million for PILT.
- $3.9 billion for wildland firefighting and prevention.

Farm Bill Conferees Announced
This week, the House announced Farm Bill conferees. Numerous Western Caucus Members made the cut including: Chairman Mike Conaway (R-TX), Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-PA), Rep. Frank Lucas (R-OK), Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR), Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL), Rep. Roger Marshall (R-KS), Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT), Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-AR), Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA), Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH).

On Thursday, The Trump Administration took action to modernize the Endangered Species Act. The three proposed rules released aim to address section 4 and Section 7 issues. These proposals build on the Western Caucus package of 9 bills unveiled last week here: http://bit.ly/2zR85m0.

Carbon Tax Rejected
On Thursday, the House passed H.Con.Res 119. This important bill made clear that a carbon tax would be detrimental to the United States economy. Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) stated, "Thanks to pro-growth Republican reforms, American families are seeing increased opportunity and the U.S. has entered a new era of energy dominance. A carbon tax as proposed by some special interest groups would undo the economic benefits we've seen, impose a costly, job-killing burden on all Americans, and stunt U.S. energy growth and success."

Monthly Staff Policy Meeting
On Friday, we held another successful staff policy breakfast hosted by the Western Caucus Foundation. Important updates and briefings were provided by the Office of House Majority Whip Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA), the Office of Senate Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Forest Service, Michael Klein of Lighthouse Resources Inc., and Dr. Eric Roy of Hydroviv. Was a great discussion on substantive issues.
